Thanks, I've used that before on other parts. Might have to grab some more for the future but thankfully I have a new front end bolt kit.

UPDATE: You guys know my propensity to change.....

So today I got a radiator (new 3 core) and some fenders as part of a parts swap. The other swap I had done a while ago but never had delivered was a rebuilt engine. I honestly was thinking it was on a stand but it has been run for a few months. For 1 second I was bummed when I saw it on the trailer and realized it wasn't fresh.

Then I get up close and realize it has a just rebuilt quadrajet on top of a complete motor. The update is this will now be the powerplant for this project . Ready for some paint (po did a lousy paint job) and drop in. Pics in a few...

Its a remanufactured block. 4 bolt mains 2pc rear main seal. It's my first ever corvette option (intake). Supposedly the cam is one step over stock and it has flat top pistons and big valve heads. Ill pull the valve covers tonight to verify which heads. The guy I bought it from had it in his truck and it ran well and sounded great so we shall see what it has once installed.

Last picture shows why I think it was a recent rebuild/install. Freeze plugs look new front and rear. We will see when I take off the valve covers

Won these headers on ebay tonight for 149 shipped to me. Ceramic coated mid length. Look like the sandersons that are a lot more expensive. They are for chevelles/camaros/etc....but several here have used them with some minor tweaks at the collector they are supposed to fit nicely....we will see shortly...

I think you will have to modify the engine frame stands to make those headers work.

I guess we'll see if these are exact copies of the hedman ones or not...I've heard several guys run these exact ones with no issues...the 158 ebay header thread I believe? Either way It's 200 less than the hedman ones and doesn't look like he had to modify the mounts that much...for right under 150 for new headers with 3/8" flanges and ceramic coating... I'm game to try and willing to do a little work to make them fit

Here is the picture of the heads. Looks clean. The bad news is they are 624 castings which are supposedly aren't the best heads chevy made Although most of that is guys wanting to build high hp motors...if you read guys with mild motors they seem to be fine. The good news is these were also corvette heads so they have the 202/1.6 valves in them...so they should be decent. The motor pulled strong in my friend's truck and he got pretty decent mileage so I think it'll make a great motor for the next owner.

Also a picture of the radiator...you can see the spots where the straps were still. A couple fins bent but nothing major and with a quick prep and paint will look very nice and should cool quite well being a thick three core...

Thanks guys, ordered a few other small parts last night (plug wires/grommets/skip white HEI (I had one but it has a clear cap) and earlier in the week got a set of restored small block brackets/pulleys from Livrat so should be able to bolt everything up when I get the engine painted. I could have of course restored an old set I have but I can do that and sell mine later....one less thing to have to do now...trying to get this thing done

A set of square body clam shell motor mounts & stands will give you better clearance for the headers and give you better motor mounts too.

Family first for sure. This truck is like my job right now so I am actually getting more time with my family than most do. Sometimes being laid off can be a blessing.

That's a valid comparison. I do spend a lot of time on here but it speeds up my project by finding easier ways to do things. Now I need some air tools and I'll be really fast

My plan is going to be to lower the engine down onto the stock mounts first...loosely bolt them on (with lots of tape where they might hit ) if they will bolt on and see if I can run them that way. If not, I'll drill the extra holes for the square body mounts in the frame and crossmember and install those...

First pic is our whole family's favorite spot....the japanese gardens at maymont. Next is me and my girls at the waterfall there soaking their toes on a sultry day. Finally is a wedding we crashed on our way out of the park couldn't pick a much prettier spot. But the bride had a loooong walk ahead of her to the portico where the groom was
