thanks jeff, santa didn't bring me anything and I was good all year, lol!! but seriously I got a few small things: wife bought me my oil and oil filter, and my antifreeze to get me closer to starting the engine, but with me having a runny nose coughing and this weather changing from 50-30 every week back and forth I start to get over it then get it again! probably wont have an update for a few weeks! really sucks, I only get sick once a yr. and it will only last a few days, this time its lasting for weeks!!

thanks newfisher!!

well I haven't been doing anything to the truck in awhile, cause I was doing some planning for the move!! an this last weekend we went looking for a house, a lot of the houses we did look at they wanted to sell the house! we were looking at just renting for now, get a feel for the area type of thing! anyways my wifes sister her boyfriend rents houses and we got one from them for now!! not the best by all means but it has four walls a roof and a separate car garage big enough that after I put my truck in it, I can put it on casters and turn it sideways, you know do 360* all days! its got room, I think its a two car garage with only one opening!!

BUT THE MAIN THING IS: it is only temporary, a few months not more then a yr., I want a bigger nicer house, but this one will do for now!!

four walls for the family and a garage... thats all a guy needs. good idea to check out the town first and figure out where you want to live. close to groceries and a parts store would be my priorities.

you're going to love tulsa... great town... tons to do.
congrats on the move.

is it 7 months and 1 week?

thanks clem, the wife wanted to go up there to see her family, while i did the running around talking to a few people about jobs! also talked to my buddys boss, gave him a quick verbal run down of what i know how to do, then he said "i got two openings here and one at another shop all at different pay, and that he'll try me out at all three spots, and see how i do then will talk about pay!! I'm fine with that, i'll do what i got to do then let my work speak for itself!!

another thing i have been thinking about doing is cutting a long bed frame down, moving all the cab mounts and rad. grille support mounts back 1"-1.5" to center the wheels in the wheel opening on the front and moving the rearend back 1"-1.5" to center it there too!! i found a longbed frame and bed the guy might be willing to sell them both together

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

We still own a house in Lawton, just outside the back gate from Ft Sill...
I didnt make it easy on the Realtor when I was looking for houses because I was pretty picky. Couldnt be more than 15 min from the Hospital on post (Operating Room staff need to be close by), not near a High School (I dont like teenagers with spray paint), and not in certain neighborhoods (no sense in having a palace in the middle of the ghetto).
As we drove around, I made it clear I was buying into the neighborhood as well as into a house, if I saw any tall grass or 4 wheeled lawn ornaments, then we just drove on by......

Good luck on the move and new job, I know this can be a stressful, but exciting time. Hopefully in the future when you talk about this, it will have "IT was the best thing we ever did" in there somewheres !!!

Re: my '64 c-10 swb project with steel floor from a '70

well its been awhile since I posted anything on my thread! but I got moved to Tulsa, the first of this month! today I drive the two hr. drive or so to go get my truck, had to put the hood hinges on to bolt the hood on! load up a bunch of stuff for the truck to bring back with me! put a steering column together, left my house at 7:30am and didn't get back til 8:15pm. truck is in the garage now! I'm very tired from the drive to and from, and having to fight with just about everything you can think of that has to do with getting a truck home when you don't have everything!

started out, I had reserved a U-Haul auto transport when I got there (after the two hr drive) they didn't have any, all they had was a car dolly! so since I made the drive I wasn't going home without my truck, so I took the car dolly and did what I had to to get my truck up here, and lets not forget the fact it started to pour down rain I mean 30-40mph is all I could do 30 mins. into the drive home!

while that's all for now guys and gals, I will post more tomorrow after my sons 4th. birthday party, having quite a few people and family over! going to try and get some sleep and hope tomorrow is a much better day then today was, good nite!!

thanks don, my boys birthday party was great! a few of the guys in my wifes family have never seen my truck an a few haven't seen it in awhile! it was fun to see about 5-7 of the guys just staring at it, asking questions! my wifes uncle offered to do the upholstery for my seats, he does some good work, i'll get a pic or two of some of the stuff he has done!

on a side note, I wasn't able to get a job at my buddys shop, well atleast not til the middle of april! so I have been applying at different shops for the last two weeks! today I had an interview and I start Thursday!!

thanks flip, im glad the truck in walking distance now, that's for sure! a two hr. drive took about 3hrs. to get my truck here, but im glad I made it safely!!

well a lil update that isn't about the truck!

I had quit the job I started last week this Monday, I went into work and they told me they lost two contract and at any time they may tell me they would have to let me go, so I had to quit I need a full time job! a good thing is my buddys wife called me (shes my second cousin) and told me that I need to get over to his shop they had an opening for a grinder that day! it might not have been the job I was applying for but it is a foot in the door! so, I went filled out another app. and started as soon as I got done filling out the app. So anyways I have been there since Monday mourning and like it better then the blasting job I had at the other place! the only bad thing is having to wait three weeks to get a pay check from them, but I will get a check tomorrow from the last job!

the wife is happy that I have a full time job this time, and so am I! its like they say when life gives you lemons make lemonade!
