Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
Frizzle Fry: Wow is all I can say. I picked up on this build from an S2000 forum and I'm amazed at your metal working abilities and thoroughness. This thread has become addictive. I may not look at it for a while, come back, see the pics of the latest progress, read every post, and then keep checking hoping there will be more.
sleepertruck72: Just for some extra background and to show how good Honda is at building engines...the F20C uses a timing chain so there's no belt to replace, the internals are all forged so it's incredibly durable (many S2000 owners have added a turbo setup to the F20 and are putting down 580+HP to the rear wheels on the stock block and head), it has carbon fiber reinforced cylinder linings, molybdenum coated piston skirts, it held a record for fastest piston speed (4965 ft/min) which used to be in F1 engine territory, and it held the distinction of having the highest specific output (HP/liter) of any naturally aspirated production engine @120hp/liter until Ferrari released the 458 Italia just last year. To keep all of this in perspective, the F20 was designed in the late 1990's. Last edited by gofast182; 07-29-2010 at 09:41 AM. |

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
Yep, all you really need to worry about is making sure the valves are adjusted and you may want to replace the timing chain tensioner (these have a tendency to make noise over time). Other than that, keep synthetic oil in it and LET HER RIP!
Also I don't know if you have the stock airbox but Honda also did a really good job on it, it's ducted very well so bolt-ons won't really give you an advantage there. Edit: Do you have/are you able to use the S2000 rear? It's a nice Torsen limited slip unit, 4.10 gears, I just don't know how well it would hold up to "Driftbeam" action Last edited by gofast182; 07-29-2010 at 08:04 PM. |

I don't envy you. I did my kitchen about 6 months ago. Technically, I'm still not done, I have to paint the base and crown trim. Hey, it came "primed" so it "looks" done

PICS! Yea! And the Minx was included! The car too... Seriously somethings just have priority, and keeping your helper happy is almost priceless. Or at least 1/2 priceless. My guess is there will be something tricked out in the Kitchen too.
Thanks from an avid follower.

Familiar with delays. Spent 2 months shopping for bathroom and 2 months in the bathroom. (Insert joke here). Had to make the boss happy. I did get to buy more tools. But for me the bathroom still worked fine. What do I know. Now she wants a kitchen.

One of the benefits of getting her involved is that she now understands the benefits of having the right tools for the job. A couple days ago she insisted I go out and buy a paint sprayer |

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
well im back and, idk if my whole 10 hrs of driving to only spend 3 hrs in st helen was worth it or not... got veto'ed by the wife said i'd spend WAY too much time at your place. guess she knows me too well.
anyways might be setting something next year or something so i'll drop you a line if i'm flying into portland. she wants to go to that beach where they actually filmed twilight at. we hit la push and it was nice, but not the movie beach. that was another 10+hrs of driving to only spend 2 hrs in forks.... anyway hope you getting some headway on your house. the weather was nice when i was there so you should be just about done huh? but i will let her know you are only 6.2 miles from the roloff farm and she can go pick pumpkins while i check out a minx and tubby

should have seen when i was driving out of forks.... didn't wanna get caught on a 2 lane highway after dark so i was practically drifting the rental van on the 10 miles of corners. overtaking cars and stuff. don't like driving in the woods around dusk... don't know what might pop out in front of you. Sasquatch, deer, moose, raccoon. etc..... i was leaving port angels just as the sun was almost gone. got back to the ferry when it was dark.

that reminds me of a cat a friend of mine had , it started flagging its territory inside the home and at one time hit a electrical wallplug , never seen a cat move so fast or miauw so high , i think his "familyjewels" where smoking , he still walks funny ocasionally flags but does not go anywhere near the corner where he got hit
