Yeah come up to WA I have a decent enough front yard for you to pitch a tent and a bon fire. Just North of Seattle that's if you feel the need to see Seattle.

It was a pleasure meeting you and your lady. It is so nice to put a face with the text
one of these days we are going to do some road trips out west and visit NM, AZ, NV, WA, OR, and CA..........
I just added "Hoser's Girl", thanks for reminding me

p.s.
hope Jason didn't give us okies a bad name
It is nice to put a face on all these crazy comments. The trip back was alot easier without the load. We stopped to see (tried to at least) some sites and get some grub. OKC was very cool. WAY COOL! It was downright COLD!!! You guys can keep that wind. It gets cold here in SF, but there's something about the cold and the wind over there that's absolutely bone chilling! As luck would have it, we just missed some warm days. It was warm before we got there, and it was supposed to warm up now that we left. Jason's a very nice guy. He greeted us was some Oklahoma rose rocks. They're going in my lady's rock garden. Cool stuff! There are some very nice folks over in the heartland. If a road trip ever gets planned, I'd love to be a part of it.

Re: Our '66 Short Fleet Build

Hey Joe,

Sorry I did not chime in sooner. Have been working on a garage cleaning project all weekend.

On the DPLF products, this is what I have done/learned. The 401 activator is for applying directly to bare metal, and requires a 30 minute induction period. Something in the chemical make up, changes in that 30 minutes to make it work properly. I never noticed the primer thinning out in that 30 minutes. I have used the 401 activator with all the DPLF I have sprayed.

The reducer, turns the DP into a sealer, instead of an epoxy primer.

If you haven't finished, you definately want to use the 401 on the blasted parts.

I have sprayed all of my primer with a $79 husky hvlp gun at about 35#'s of air with a 1.4 tip, un reduced, and have had no issues with thickness. The tip is a little small, and causes a slight orange peel, however I will be blocking this down, later in life.

My thoughts on your thickness issue are: Ambient temp too low, or too cold over night. Old product. Or maybe gun/compressor set up issues.

In my business I do epoxy concrete coatings, and the products I use, definately have a shelf life, they thicken up as they get older.

Hope this helps,
Nick

That would be like 2 years off. National board meet is next year. My truck has a lot to prove before it gets that far away from home. All the Okie boys should be done and broken in by then to.

Joe, JMO but since you have the frame bare I would go with the Por-15...that way you have no regrets later. everything is looking good.
Love the dogs...is that your son with them?

Exactly what I'm doing with my frame, but you know that already. I just have to get the rest of the body of so I can get to it.

Then again Alan's looks really sexy painted.

So the car wash didn't have an issue with you rolling in with a frame and engine to clean? They normally have a heart attack when I roll in with my Jeep covered with mud so I could only imagine what they'd think if I brought a frame/engine in. hahaha

yeah, I have probably asked already, but how do you like the POR?
i'm thinking about trying out the Zero-Rust, it is about a third the cost of POR....think I'm still gonna get it all sand blasted first

I didn't ask
it wasn't really greasy, mostly just dirt, other than the rear differential.
there was an outlaw dirt track racer cleaning his race car there too.
I had a couple guys come up and ask "what is it"
I told them and they both told me that was the way to do it

Progress is progress...Looks dam good!

We were there not too long ago with my woman's '65. Luckily there wasn't too much rust on the chassis, we shot it with Rustoleum semi-gloss black paint...
