Finally managed to go pick up my parts and get these brackets installed, everything looked great and fit pretty much perfect. The outer bracket that bolts to the 4 bolt flange didn't quite clear the little ridge that it centers over, but I'm sure this was mostly due to my rear end being powder coated as well as the brackets being powdered, or slight variation of axle tube as it was only one side. Once I snugged the bolts down she popped right over and sat flush. Worst part about it all is that it probably took longer unpacking all the parts then to install. Well made and looks awesome, thanks Captain!!

Got the drilled/slotted ecoat stop tech for front. 127.66000 is part# of anyone needs 1.25"
They are some nice rotors. Summit sells for 120 each, got them to price match car parts.com for $80. Came with races installed. Nice quality product.

If this doesn’t get much I will ask in the general area, but got to cleaning up and test fitting my calipers and pads last night, and the A1 eldorado calipers have a solid piston. So my question is, is anyone using the anti rattle clips with the rear parking brake caliper, and if so how did you orientate the clips to work? The clip hits the piston seal with the solid pistons on my calipers as the long end has nowhere to go. Also, does anyone know how the park brake mechanisms works? Is it mechanical to push the piston out or hydraulic with volume displacement? Dry, I have no piston movement while rotating the park brake lever so that’s why I ask.

For my rear wilwood disk kit the park brake is Incorporated in the rotor. That is a good question.

The lever is pushing out the back side of the piston by means of a one way roller clutch. This will drift out as needed with wear. If doing a brake job and needing to make room for the thicker pads/rotors you turn the piston clockwise (as you look at the face of the piston) using a special tool or improvise as needed. This clockwise movement releases the clutch and allows it to move inward. If your piston does not move out i would suggest to install it anyway (you have a warranty). Some levers can be installed /clocked into many positions and on some you turn the lever in the direction as the cable would move it, remove the lever and reindex it to be able to grab some more and turn some more. My last eldo brake job was probably 35 years ago so i will leave the final sayso to someone that has done it recently.

When done if the lever does nothing after you have driven the truck and the hydraulic brakes work good i then would suspect broken roller clutch assemblies.

I've worked on subarus since the 70's and their pistons rolled clockwise inward, and then you would step on the brake pedal and this would push the piston out and eventually give a nice pedal feel, and then the emergency brake lever did it's job. First time i did a brake job i needed help and scratched my head many times trying to figure it out. I resorted to taking a caliper apart and then it all made sense. By the way, these subaru calipers were on the FRONT.

Good info airstream, thanks. There’s some good information out there on these brakes, just need to dig, but it sounds like the performance of these brakes is based purely on the setup of the park brake. Another thing I read is to not touch the hydraulic side of things until the P brake is setup properly. And for the rattle clips, apparently they’re a wire style clip. Raybestos H5459 or ACdelco

First off, great work Captain! I’ve had my 85 C-10 apart for about 6 months trying to find the DIY parts to put disc brakes on the rear. I tried the S-10 4x4 backing plates that MANY people say will fit.....but they don’t. I was gonna go the Impala rotor and custom bracket route but the rotor doesn’t fit completely down onto the axles due to the tiny lip. I wanted something that I could put together that worked without having to machine any parts. My buddy ordered some brackets for his 68 from you for the Impala rotor setup and is gonna have his axles machined. The quality and fit of your brackets sold me.
I’m gonna go the Astro route however because the rotors actually fit properly. I’ll be ordering those brackets soon.
My question today is about the master, is it a must to change it from stock to disc/disc? Also, has anyone used the 83+ year corvette mc? Does it fit without mods? I’m new to this forum stuff so if this is the wrong place for that question I apologize. Anyway, thanks guys.

Even though some have run a disc/drum master with 4 wheel discs I always recommend upgrading to a disc/disc master and prop valve. Or at least an adjustable valve in the rear line. I do not have any experience with the '83 Corvette master, but it should bolt up and work fine as long as the bore in the back of the piston is the same as your original master.

i have a question.im doing a frame off on a 79 c-10.with bags and lowered and all that stuff.im using a 12 bolt rear.the rims im using are 26".but the bolt pattern is a dual one that is 4 1/2 and 4 5/8.will i have any issues using these brackets after i press out studs on axels and have them redrilled.

If you are needing a wheel stud pattern other than the 5 x 5, the rotors will also need to be redrilled. I've never heard of a 4 5/8" wheel stud circle. Are you certain that you measured the holes correctly?

Can I use the later model eldorado calipers like 79-85 e brake style with this setup? What's the difference in the 76-78 ebrake caliper?

No you can not use the smaller Metric '79-'85 calipers in place of the '76-'78 Eldorado calipers. They are physically a smaller size.

I scanned the thread and saw some discussion but didn’t see an answer. Do you make a bracket for d52 wilwoods for a 6 lug axle? I’d like to go disc on rear of my k5, and want a matching set of calipers front and rear
