Wow, I have to say originally living in Ohio that's a common site for most old vehicles. I got sick of dealing with that 25 years ago and started buying our cars out west and hauling or driving them back East.
Got sick of doing that and just decided to move to Arizona to be closer to all the rust free cars Not to mention it's in the 70's here,,,,in December Sorry you probably didn't want to hear that.

Re: PO has me PO'd

Awhile back you were having trouble lining up your body lines due to the body mounts and then when you put the half top on the bolt holes didn't line up. How did you get her all lined out? I ask because my body lines are still not great and I think its due to the cab mounts not being shimmed right or something.

It's still wacked alittle, but after Kurt and I discussed it and with his measurements we're pretty confident where the trouble lies. You have to remember I had no physical metal to reference off of, so when I hung the cowl off of the rafters I added one more click on the ratchet strap(thinking there would be inherent sag),but there wasn't any. Also, I built it without the front fenders on it, there in lays the problem. I had three sides that looked great and thought that would be enuff. So, by added the the fourth line(front fender) it wacked it out by a 1/2"

Adding the 1/2 top only proved my problem, as it sits 1/2" back towards the rear of the truck only on the passenger side, sooooo, lowering the "A" post patch panel, rocker backing plate, floor or all of the above should resolve the SNAFU. AND bring the half top forward the needed demension. Just gotta figure out what moves what where, and by how much...seems simple in theory lol

I don't know exactly what you did so far, so it would be hard to give you an exact answer, only tips on where the problem may lie. Post up specific problem areas and I'm sure we all can come up with an answer

You can do it, just gotta stick toit. I keep telling myself that, plus I wouldn't want to let the board down If I had money instead of tools, I might not have done this so many times. Thanks for the compliments, but I'm only doing stock. Can you imagine how much more difficult it must be to modify things...Those guys have real talent

I've only heard rumors of such cars, where would the fun and challenge be in building such a truck! My workshop is 70 in December

I'll do that! It probably won't get to be in the spring once we go into the yards though. Ship schedule is haze grey and underway til then. Might get a little bit done to the windshield and the side marker lights over the holidays, but I think I'll be spending most of my time driving my new Camaro.

Nice on the Camaro! I was just sitting in one couple weeks ago, was out looking to buy the wifey a new car. I voted for the Camaro, she wanted the Malibu LTZ...guess who won

Gotta admit, it is a pretty cool touring car. 6 speed manual/automatic- manual shifter on the steering wheel, power heated seats, Bluetooth, XM radio, On Star, Suede inserts in the leather seats, 18" wheels. Has a little Bowtie in the rear lights

You, my friend, have it all! A lift, torch, sawzall, and ample room. What a great place to build...

My next project may be a street rod, always wanted a '32 highboy w/ a coddington windshield

Guess I should've said 'you' guys

Re: PO has me PO'd

If you took a boat out here in MN in March it would look something like this... Dammit all...

Actually, depending on the weather and if it was early march, you might still drive the truck out on the lake with the boat still on the trailer.

Re: PO has me PO'd

A little more on the thread highjack. For us, October was one of the coldest and wettest on record and we all thought, Oh no, this is going to be a rough winter.

Then November rolled in and it was actually warmer than October. One of the warmest on record, so now we think, huh, go figure.

December seems normal, at least for now. I have to move some more parts out of my garage though so the wife can park inside. She doesn't like scraping the windows. She has been very patient so far.

And just to segway back to the build...I really like the detail going into this build. I tend to cut corners, but can't seem to break the habit. I don't see any of that here and I admire it.

Hey Jim, I was going through all these pics (I'm on page 11 now )
Still quite a ways to go.

Where in the world did you find poly mounts for the transmission/transfer case???
I was thinking of changing mine when I do the engine swap, but had no idea those were out there.

WHOA! Ya caught me off guard with that 50 cent wordBut we should get back to the matter at hand...

Thanks HGS, nice to have someone pick up on that. It really slows my build down tho. I tend to over think every thing and put way to much planning into every part that I bolt on. It is a form of entertainment for me, sorta like a legal mistress

Traded a guy in Cali (Jims Junk) for a set of 8 1/2" alum. slotted wheels, he took my 10's. So, with 10's on the back and 12" wide tires, it should just about even out the inset of the rearend. Afterall, most of the work will be done by the rear tires

May have a lead on my coolant tubes
