Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

I pulled the 230 and installed a 350. I didn't want to do it but the 230 still wont turn so it has to come apart and I don't want to wait to drive the truck. I also learned the 73 and later manifolds wont fit our trucks, so the almost new exhaust I saved wont do me any good. The driver side manifold dumps down right where the clutch linkage attaches to the frame. It wouldnt have done me much good anyway since I left the pivot ball at home.

Removed the bulk of someone's idea of custom paint and hard-as-a-rock masking tape from my tailgate.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Been replacing my bed wood this week. Using my 1955 Radial Arm saw I'm using 2"x8" and 2"x6" boards. only issue is I have to make all the edges 3/4" to fit properly. It's a bit of a chore to do but I have the tools to make it happen.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Converted to an internally regulated alternator last night. Very simple and everything seems to be running much happier.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Ive been looking for a set of manifolds for the small block in my truck and stumbled on these. Loosely installed them this morning to check fit. Couldnt do much because the yard at work is wet after the rain and I dont have room inside at the moment

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

They are ceramic coated. Unfortunately I didnt have bolts to put them on but they look like there shouldnt be any issues. Clears the clutch linkage no problem but they will be kinda close to the factory starter. They are Jegs p/n 300555, I got them off Craigslist.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Quick update on the Jegs headers. They kid of fit. Im going to have to smash a tube on the driver side or trim some metal from the motor mount. Ill probably trim the mount. The front tube is making contact with the top of the support that attaches to the frame. I also had to grind a little off the flange so that it will clear the factory temp sending unit.

I was able t make some progress this weekend. I brought the air lines up through the floor and routed to the switches and added air gauges. I also got some sound deadener laid down.
