As mentioned before i am getting this running good and very drivable now so that i have a show/play rig while i am building the truck.
So anyways, i got to speak to the original builder of the car, Ronnie Vice in Alabama. The motor is a 383 cu in block .30 overbore, with Billet Splayed main caps, Eagle Steel Crank, Lunati Rods and Pistons, Hell Fire Rings, Victor Jr aluminum Heads and intake, Turbo 350 built to the teeth with shift kits and 3000 stall, Frod 9" Rear with 31 spline axles shortened and reinforced along with a Detroit Locker and 4.56 gears rotating 31"x18.5 x 15" DOT tires. He put more into the motor than i paid for the entire car he said. Unreal, but anyways, been working on the Brakes and such on it. I would post pics but not sure if that is ok to do here.
It's your thread so your decision. If you're going to do a build (finish what was started) & want to post updates/info on it, there's always the Alternative Tinkering forum for other types of vehicles/projects.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

I'm perfectly fine with a tantalizing pic now and then of whatever else you're working on other than the '66.

And you can't toy with us without leaving a tantalizing pic! (I mean, we're all "car guys" here...).

I agree with both Scoti and SkinnyG. You're welcome to post up a couple pictures here, or if you would rather do a whole build thread, the Alternate Tinkerings section is just the place for a whole thread.

Re: Starting 1966 Factory Short Bed Build, Bagged, 383 Stroker and Muncie M20 4-Speed

Dang, it has been so long since i was last on here!
I have been looking in on the rides on here from time to time and dang there are a bunch of awesome builds!!
I honestly have been working like mad on the "40 Coupe trying to get it going good, and well like my "66 Short Box, I cannot just do a build partially, or not at the best I can (in other words, just get it "running"), I must build it be be good if not great and so 1 issue turns into another, then another.... and so on. I now understand myself alot better. I hate just "half-arse" building anything. Orginally I was going to just get the Coupe going... ya well that idea is well gone. So now it is almost completely done and I am getting really excited to get back onto the truck! I have some new ideas and thoughts for the truck and excited to get back into it.
So hopefully soon I will have new pics of the truck coming!
Until then, keep up the great work everyone!!!!

Hey, it's good to hear from you. It would be nice to see some pics of the '40. And good luck getting back on your truck.

Gentlemen,

I appreciate all you nice compliments! This is just one of several reasons why this website is so awesome! I am going to attach a few pics of the coupe here. I installed Coil overs and all new bushings, engine parts, fiberglass glass front fenders, updated dash and switches, full out stereo with subs, fun exhaust items lol, and a bunch of other items. It is almost completed!

I forgot, I added Steel running boards also. They were to be bonded in place, but I prefer the mechanical look so I bolted them on.
