Re: 58 GMC Project

Which kit did you go with from american wiring? I was looking over them and they seen like pretty good kit. And did you get the kit with the new light switch?

There were two reasons I used American Auto Wire. The first was I was looking around on e-bay for parts and I ran across the kit for what I feel was a great price for what all the kit came with. That leads me to the second reason. The kit came complete and was designed for 55 to 59 Chevy trucks with everything except the brake light switch. Also like many other kits, all the wiring is labeled so it's not that hard to install with some basic knowledge of wiring.

Thanks kyle4381! I finished the wiring last weekend. Now all I need to do is install the gas pedal and just go over evrything under the truck making sure it's all tighten up so I can give it's first drive around the block.

Hey Jebb, You have made some really great progress on yours! I remember back a year ago, you were just going get her running again and now your doing a frame off, now that's COOL. I just install the gas pedal, so maybe by the end of the weekend I'll be driving her down the road.

Re: 58 GMC Project

WHAT A GREAT DAY!!! I took my truck out on her maiden voyage! My son and I stared out today installing one seat to sit on for the drive. We tried to start her up, but she just was turning over. I got out and found gas coming out of the fuel pump at the fitting. We ended up pulling the pump off and found the threads were stripped at the outlet for the fittings. I took a quick trip to the parts store and bought a new pump. We installed it and she fired right up! I then added some trans fluid and put her into drive and the wheels began to roll! So out the driveway, then down the street! Man what a feeling! Almost 2 years in the building and I was now driving her with a smile from ear to ear! My son shot some video and being the smart computer kid he is, well try and post a link for me to share with all of you.

Looking Good Cal, What is the schedule on the bed? Maybe next time I go and see my son I can check it out at a show.

Re: 58 GMC Project

you have a great looking truck there, i'm just doing a customers cab at work at the same stadge as yours, but his is verry bad, it looked like you took your time in the build, and that allways makes for a great looking finish.....can't wate to see it with paint, LOVE the dash!
