Finally got the dropmember in for mock up. I think I may have put the reinforcing plates in backwards or upside down? One of the bolts on each bag plate ends up behind one of the vertical supports, but otherwise went in fairly easily. It looks so much better than the stock mess.

My question is at what height do I put the transmission crossmember? Does the supplied crossmember go at the bottom of the frame?

The inner supports will only line-up one way. The radiused part of the inner frame supports will face the engine. Go ahead and e-mail me some pics so I can get a better idea of where you're at!

On the transmission x-member, I normally bolt it to the tranny, and then adjust the transmission to it's desired height and angle, and then mark/drill the mounting holes through the side of the frame. Do this with the cab in place to ensure proper clearance. If it's just a rolling chassis with no cab, let the x-member set on the bottom of the rails until you get the cab in place.

I will try to get some pix. It is not a big deal because it is coming back apart before final assembly. I just wanted to check fit with the LS in the frame and get an idea where the trans crossmember was going to end up to have a thicker boxing plate where it is going to be. I am going to modify your trans crossmember or a early classics one I have.

The inner supports are radiused inward. I just notice the the "open" end in some of the pix in this thread face forward, but I have mine towards the rear (if you think of the over all support as a U layed on its side.)

One last thing I was thinking about. I am planning on using a 2 piece driveshaft. I have read all the threads on how to do it and am still not 100%. Looking at the engine it is going to have a downward slope, can I run the front driveshaft parallel to the frame back to the center crossmember then let the drop in the rear allow the rear driveshaft to angle up.

I know if you are using a single driveshaft you want like 3 degree down eng and 3 degree up rearend for proper u-joint lubrication. Any help would be appreciated.

Just spent the last couple hours reading and I must add that this is a great product. Definitely will be buying PB when the time comes for my '86 P/U.

Three questions, what would be the advantage of running the 6-link cantilever setup vs. the 4 link DM setup? And what would be the best setup for draggin' frame down the highway? Also, what is the advantage of running the C4 DM as opposed to the regular DM? Sorry if I missed the answer to any of these questions.

KP six link will get more lift than the PB four-link. The PB Dropmember Rear Trailing Arm Kit (lays frame with my trailing arms) will allow you to run a 12" wide rear wheel... it would be one to consider as its a few hundred bucks cheaper than my four-link kit. The DropmemberC4 isn't set up to lay frame, and it uses a Shockwave.
