Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got the Porterbuilt shock mounts and the lower adjustable trac bar mount attached to my trailing arms. I removed 2 more rivets from the stock upper trac bar mount. Rivet removal is a major PITA while laying on your back under the bed!!!! 5 more rivets to go and the rear suspension work will wrap up quickly after that. I'll post the final results on my build thread when done.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I managed to to rewire my fans and put them on relays, They were wired straight to the fuse box before.
Now I have one that comes on with the key and the other comes on at 185* here's the hillbilly wiring I pulled out that was running the fans. Pulled these killer speakers out of the cab and did a little tuning on the engine, sounds better.. VVV click the picture below VVV Last edited by TxRat; 11-07-2012 at 09:03 PM. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got the driver side notch finished. Got the rear axle bolted in. The truck is finally sitting on it's own 4 wheels.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Found out the torque converter internally came apart and killed the pump in the tranny...Tranny was not damaged fortunately because we shut it down immediately...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
i played around with my ammeter and switched to a volts meter!! i had a triple set of sunpro gauges for the volts, oil, water! i took the volts gauge housing apart and oblonged the two holes, also cut about 1/4" off the original housing! so it would slide down a lil and look more centered in the gauge cluster! anyways sorry for the crappy pics but i think you get the idea, last picture the gauge is just sitting in there and slide to the left a lil!! i think i'm going to add the oil and water gauge tomorrow

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
God a box full of goodies for the truck from a company that will remain nameless for the moment. Went to install the first one(chrome locking gas cap), tested the keys and they seemed to work, installed the cap and discovered the key doesn't unlock the cap when it is installed on the filler tube.
Just finished writing them an email asking if they'd prefer to pay for a locksmith to removed the cap or overnight me a replacement cap, filler neck, filler hose, clamps & filler gasket so I can replace the filler neck that now has a cap stuck on it. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Picked up a box of air bag stuff. Used, but I think I did good. I picked up a 5 gallon air tank, a Viair 380C compressor, a pair of Contitech FD -110 bags, a couple of 1/2" air valves, 40 amp relay, and a 5 port Ingersoll Rand 1/4" valve - I'm not sure how to use that but it all ran me a whopping $100.00. I couldn't get my wallet out fast enough. There's no pressure switch, switches, or dual needle air gauge but I think I did OK. I'm only going to bag the rear but I still want to split it side to side.

Got the upper ball joints off:
Thanks to this $14 gem from harbor freight: Now, I have to figure out how to get the lowers out without owning a press. Steven

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Finally decided on the shifter knob. (I know, I know cart waaaay before the horse!)
I welded on a pineapple grenade. It look sweet! I forgot to take a pick at the shop. Also got a bunch of the muck off of the front suspension parts so I could take them to the blaster. They are just to complicated to clean with a wire wheel. I can get the whole front suspension done for about $70. Steven
