Damn, I've really got to do something about that crooked back bumper! I've tried jacking it up by the low side of the bumper with the bolts loose and it still didn't help. I guess the bracket must be bent.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I kicked this 05 Tundra out of the garage about 2 years ago for my 71 project. Wasn't happy to do that. Our seasons are rough and SW exposure. It wouldn't be the only thing I've sacrificed for the money pit for certain......................The Tundra is truck, so counts. Besides, there's a great cab next to it. )

Anyway, I rolled the frame into the single bay, which long story short is no longer used. I used to polish the truck every year no excuses, but go figure, today's the first time I hit it in near two years as well.

Happy to see the paint is still good. I swear by Car Pros paint sealant. Been using it 30 years now. Great truck as well. Knock on wood it's only required one repair since new, A/C O-ring $100 installed.

Blend the brakes, installed the front drive shaft
Put the wheels on and put her on the the ground.
Now for some decent weather to test the ride.

I changed the snow tires to summer tires yesterday. Woke up this morning to a snow storm. Last night it was freezing rain. What a country eh. May the sun shine in your world. Have a good one.

But when it's 90 to 110 degrees here you will be a nice cool 72 degrees. And lots of shade and green trees. I'll be coming to visit in July. Cheers!!!

I guess you folks are the reason we have AC. Thank you but we don't use it too often up here. Sometimes the weather can be perfect!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I replaced the clutch disks and plates in my 12-bolt posi today. My spin the wheel test was telling me it was not a posi, so I didn’t know it was until I pulled the cover off. When I did I found several pieces of clutch disk sitting on the bottom.

Fortunately it didn’t trash something else, and all I had to do was replace the disks and plates. The axle is out of the truck, which made it much easier.

And also got my bumper repainted to get rid of the black stripe on top. Well I had my dad do it because he has 20 years experience with body work and paint. Did some black fade to give it some character and then flat cleared it. Before and after:

I’m going to have to open mine up now. The spin test tells me my twelve bolt isn’t posi and I was thinking about getting a power trax kit. With only 75,000 miles on my truck I kind of doubt it but definitely worth a look see.

I finished the topside welds on the rocker installs and flipped her over to get to the bottom easier, because I hate molten balls of steel burrowing in my flesh. That would be a good thread name ...”molten balls of steel”. Also , I closed up the factory gashole. Someone needs to clean the garage.

Thanks guys, and I don’t think I’ll put any oil on. There are a few speckled, pin head sized bare metal spots on the drivers side bed side and a decent sized spot on the cowl but she’s garage kept and not driven in the rain so I don’t think it should advance any for a long time. The bare metal will tell the tale I guess.
Here’s a shot of the other side of the bed and cowl. I’ll try to get a decent picture of the whole truck in a few days when it stops raining, still haven’t got to drive her for over 4 months now because of the weather

I always put a coat of wax on by hand after my CLR baths. It covers the bare metal, brightens up the paint and darkens the exposed primer. It's like cranking up the contrast on a picture.

I am very seriously considering wax. The scrubbing from the CLR already gave the bed a bit of reflective properties. I need to go over the whole hood cause in fluorescent light you can see where I scrubbed, it’s shinier.
The only thing is I don’t want it to look like it’s fake patina or something. Do you have any pictures of vehicles you’ve done? And are some waxes less “shiny” than others? I’ve never even waxed anything before. Thanks for the help by the way.
