the springs were originally held together with these clips, made of rust

Yeah that’s a little steep! I had a frame like that recently, and it’s going to the dump.
What all do you need? I can send you some springs and those clips (new clips). Clipsand fasteners.com sells the clips, that’s were I get mine. But it’s looking like you need a frame. And from pic #1 & #3, from post #6550 , your frame is a 73-76.

Re: Restoring Rusty

so three Pick-N-Pulls and $15 bucks later we go ourselves some replacement springs in excellent condition from a 1976 Chebby with a tilt seat

Fun Fact: my '74 had 20 springs, this '76 only came with 14, thank you GM bean counters, way to save a buck

Re: Restoring Rusty

The spring count differences may also be options. The frame looks like it can take more springs. Cushier seat was an option.
You could pick individual options out of the books and have them delivered on lower trim levels in the 70's.

Re: Restoring Rusty

Glad you found more good springs.
Did that trucks have the center belts? That particular style of belt, had a particular style of buckle and lap belt cap. And I need the lap belt cap. Them dang things are hard to find. If you go back, can you see if it has it? If it does, can you send me the buckle with the cap on it?
I would be indebted to you!

Re: Restoring Rusty

so replaced the brushes in my trusty DeWalt 4011 angle grinder only to find out it's gotta Blown Head Gaskit !!! and for the life of me I have no idea how to press that flux capacitor bearing out, YouTube seems to have 7 videos each on all the other DeWalt grinders but none on this one

Re: Restoring Rusty

Here's the parts blowup of the DWE4011 angle grinder.
https://www.ereplacementparts.com/de...66_203226.html

I'd pull the snap ring off the top of the gear and push the shaft out.
It takes some special grease for the high rotational speed. The grease Dewalt calls for contains Tripheneyl Phosphate. It's typically a plasticizer so I'm not sure what they added it to grease for but I bet the chemists had a reason. Possibly for the phosphorous EP properties.
Triphenely Phosphate is a phenol/phosphoric acid derivative so it's pretty nasty toxic stuff. You want to be careful about getting it on your skin.

Re: Restoring Rusty

I can't believe after all the grinding you've done that you haven't purchased one of these. I don't necessarily like the phrase, but it really was a game-changer once I got one. Same with my blasting cabinet. Plus 50 lb black diamond bags at Tractor Supply for only $9, and it's hard to beat (get the fine).

Haha. Hey, I know the feeling. At one point I had sold my compressor and didn't really have the space/cash to get a new one. Finally, I just bit the bullet.

yup that's exactly what happened I think I had three over the years all gotten used or FREE and since I moved 7 times in like 4 years after we sold our house I just gave up

so what did you end up getting, from the 30 seconds of research I've done over the years on compressors for media blasting and painting I recon one might need a Double Pumper, and being on thin ice with my friendly HOA I think an Ultra Quiet one won't hurt none either

I ended up getting a C-Aire. SUPER quiet. It's really nice. I never run out of air. Little pricey, but worth it in the end. It appears to have gone up in price since I bought mine.

Re: Restoring Rusty

from here, things got even more boring

I like to save my blood each and every time I bust a knuckle or get cut whilst wrenching on my truck so that later I can use it as cutting oil and return the favor
