Re: What did you do to your truck *yesterday*
Thursday morning I braved serious rush hour traffic and delivered my truck to the body shop where they'll hopefully do a good job of repairing it where the boob hit me .
$1,700.00 + GASP ~ They hedged their bets $ wise by charging 10 hours just to straighten the heavy step bumper where it's bent . I can't imagine it taking more than two hours no matter what . I was thinking back to 2012 when a new member in Az. bought a Red stepper with the same bumper and wanted to throw it away..... Anyway , if these guys do a good job and don't damage or steal anything etc. , I'll see if I can afford to have them do a full cab off de rusting and repainting . They do lots of restoration & custom works so who knows ~ everything looked very nice when I was there so I'm hopeful . A nice ' new ' '69 base model C/10 is just what I need to work & beat up for the rest of my life .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I finally got a chance to see why my '67 would not start except when I sprayed starting fluid in it. It would start and die so I knew it was a fuel delivery problem.
I have been keeping busy checking over and working on the '75 C-30 I bought a few weeks ago. I put the battery back in the '67 and the gas gage showed almost 1/2 full. I tapped the tank and it sounded empty so I put 5 gallons of gas in it. In no time at all the truck was running ok. I unhooked the gas gage wire at the tank and the gage pegged. I was concerned my fuel line had plugged again, but I guess I lucked out and it was just out of gas. Just another thing to put on the ole to-do list.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I had a pretty good day !!!
I changed out the growly power steering pump on the K20 for the 4th time in 2 years. Steers great again and is way quieter. Was tightening up the alternator belt and found out that there was no bushing in the lower bracket,, dug around and found another bracket with the bushing,, put that in and tightened the belt. The alternator runs straight now !! Then got a wild hair and dug an old sears generic cruise control out of the cupboard and installed that. I found it at a flea market in Chatanooga, Tennesee 4 or 5 years ago for $10,, complete, new in the box. It is nice to have a vehicle with cruise again. And last but not least,, I fixed my horn. Have a great day !!! Tom |
