Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Getting stuff lined up for water heated manifold plate from Stovebolt. Takes a little plumbing....winter is supposed to arrive Sunday afternoon, so I better hurry!

It fits really well. I did this some time ago and dont recall what I did to make it fit. The LT1 is not running and dont have any brakes. I have the impala SS rear end to install. I have all the wiring labeled. Hope to get back to working on it soon...

FYI you can buy Duplicolor brand bedliner material by the gallon then roll it on. If you want more texture you can add sand to it. We used it on trailer floors and it worked great. Lots less expensive than paying for rhino liner etc..

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Finished lowering the 65 yesterday. The rear shocks that came in the kit were too small so I put the originals back on for now. Looks great and the ride isn't bad either.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Too nasty to do much.

I did go upstairs in the shop and organize parts and inspect to get an idea where I stand.

Really not all that bad. One fender needs a patch, both door bottoms and both doors have about 6 mirror screw holes. The grill support just needs stripping.

Looks like 90% of the work will take place on the cab and the hood.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Installed new heater blower motor, had to use a mirror to see the holes.
I did not remove the heater box so lining up the blower mounting holes with the Bo was a bit tricky.
Took about 20 min.

All the suspension parts are painted!

Will begin assembly after a couple days of cure time.

Pics later today...

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I bought a Gearhead 21 Circut 18 fuse universal wiring harness, wires are hot stamped every 6" and are GM color coded. I haven't started wiring my truck with it yet but it looks like a pretty good piece for the money.

Now I can add my power windows, door locks, electric cooling fan, electric fuel pump etc. and have lots of room left over to add even more accesories. It will sure beat the 6 fuse factory fuse block.

I'm also looking into adding an ignition switch out of a 1962 Pontiac. That way I'll have an acc. switch position and I've always liked that light up ring that surrounded the old Pontiac ignition switches.

Here's the pic of the last of the suspension parts:

I'm really happy with the way they turned out. Can't wait to assemble the chassis again.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Cleaned the engine 3 times with purple clean, a scrub brush and a pressure washer. That was the nastiest engine I have ever seen!

Also used my autozone card to get a free harmonic balancer puller and got it off.

Finally, I wire wheeled the engine to get it ready for deburring, a good wipedown with brake cleaner and then paint. I want to set the engine and trans before I wrap up the frame in tarps and start on the body.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Finally got the wiring figured out and every needing power has it. Just have to bleed and adjust brakes and should be insured and registered in 2 weeks. Been waiting for that so I can start driving it and start the next project, a 46 Plymouth. It will be reborn with a SBC power plant.

Yes, hammered black. 3 coats thinned 25% with acetone shot out of a HF HVLP gun at 30 psi.

Thanks!

I have made some serious progress on my center console/shifter setup. I hope to have it finished this weekend and will add pics to my build thread. Should be kinda cool.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Might have made a deal for tax time to pickup a 65 swb ss with no engine but very little rot for $750.

I will be using the doors and wheels on my truck and selling the rest. That's the plan but, knowing me, it'll turn into another project.

Tore everything out of the cab to wire wheel the corners and get a better look at the rust damage... Exciting...
