Pulled the 350 to ship off for repairs. Getting cam and valvetrain gone over / replaced. Fely good to be wrenching on the ol gal. Now I have to see what all I will need to fix or replace while the engines out.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I want to drive my truck ... but problem : new battery, new regulator, but same issue, low battery after some miles. it seems to me that battery passes off by driving, not in the stop !
any idea ?
is it possible that the starter puts itself in short circuit and empties the battery by driving ? I drive only by the day, and just after 10 miles, good new battery is empty

thanks for help

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

You should open a new thread in the electrical section for this. Have you tested the voltage output of your charging system both at an idle and at driving speed?

Post Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Alternator testing is far easier than most think .

Did you place a volt meter across the battery terminals when it's running ? .

That's just one of many tests .

More if you but ask .

Played with the hood, played with the headliner (carpet from "Big Lots" ), and cleaned up the engine bay a little.

Factory gauges or any add ons?

Sounds like the alternator/regulator are not adjusted correctly

It would be good to see what the differences in the voltage are while driving or what is coming out of the alternator.

As mentioned a small multimeter check across the battery terminals to watch your voltage draw/changes at RPMs is a quick easy way to go.

Also are you required to drive with your lights on all the time over there?

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

100% won't be the starter causing charging system problems, it would have to run with the engine and you would know that.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

thanks to you, will verify the charge when engine is running ; battery is charged this morning, so I hope i can start my engine.
battery gauge (factory) doesn't work correctly ==> always good...

what is to say "Sounds like the alternator/regulator are not adjusted correctly" ?

The regulator and alternator need to work in sync with one another. The regulator can be adjusted to vary the amount of charge being produced. It's been a long time since I had to deal with one, so I would need a manual to see what the adjustments are.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

OK, I bought a regulator item 36-2520 at LMC store. it is not precised for which Ah it is. I thought it was a standard one, because it fits with electrical plugs.
i've any information regarding alternator. Perhaps it's a high Ah powered and the standard regulator does'nt work with.
So do I change the alternator to a standard like item 36-2760-Z (LMC store) ?

First I have to see if charge works or not.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Then, started my truck. ... 13V, no change when I accelerate !
solutions :
1- condensator ? (not changed)
2- alternator ?
3- regulator ? ==> new one ==> before I changed it, when accelerate alternator gave 18V !!!
