Post Re: What did you do to your truck today!

The Fusible Link is *supposed* to fry if you get a dead short in the primary hot wire , this in theory , prevents electrical fires from burning your Ship Of The Highway to the water line before you can call 911 .

The idea is to use the lowest value one you can that won't get hot and melt or go open circuit .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

did a little work on my shifter for my 700r4, i reworked the original 4 speed shifter. i still need to extend it a few more inches, tweak the gate on it & make a shift boot.

i also picked up a cool looking speedo and gas gauge out of a buick la sabre from the junk yard along with a gauge style gear indicator, not sure if i'm going to use them on my truck yet.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Washed the truck for the first time since I got it back from the body shop. Also got the wife to drive it around the block for the first time with the new fuel injection system on it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Went out to it a few minuites ago and found my rear view mirror on the floor. Guess it got too hot or maybe it's one of the other things the P.O. did.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Added a oil pressure guage...not in your usual location. I have a guage in the dash, but it only has graduation marks. I want to know he numerical number. I attempted to tee into the line that goes to the back go the block next to the dizzy, but no luck in finding a tee that would work. And I could not get the plug above the oil filter to budge, so I put it up front. I seem to be alway messin with some thing under my hood so I figured this spot would be perfect. I have pretty good pressure at idle...~25psi.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Cage in progress. Bout half done....Going to need to find a powdercoater soon.

It's not a certified cage as you can see. It's pieced together 2.5" 3/16 wall. It won't be as strong as contimuous tube, but will at least be able to mount the seats and belts to it. Better than nothing and all the tubing was FREE! Thinking it will get a bikini top eventually.

Yet to do, seat bars... 2 more runners along the top....and make pipe gussets where the side runners and the vertical hoops tie together.

Most major fastener shops carry it. I have a few cans, if I was closer I'd give you a can until you got some.

If you are moving to Dallas.... In Denton, TX is a company called Camoliner.com they specialize in New Jeeps and such doing complete exterior work. Look them up. Plus as a bonus the can do graphics and there stuff is Kevlar based.

I'm going to have them do the underside in black and paint match the bed on my 70 as well as have my sons Z71 done completely.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Nate, you can order it direct from the manufacturer at Kanolaboratories.com I've never seen it in the stores. I became aquainted with it by working in the refineries and industrial sites.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Today I finished collecting all the parts for the final push at the body shop. All the last bits and pieces are boxed up for the trip to the shop in the morning. It has been in paint jail for quite awhile now.

Post Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Spent most of the day cleaning parts for the 292 I'me overhauling ~ the oil pan was seriously over tightened and gooped with RTV so mucho hand cleaning there , soon I'll dress the pooched in bolt holes with my ball pien hammer .

Two cylinders have some rust so I washed them with Oxycilic Acid then ran a wire wheel in my drill motor to clean up those cylinders , looks to me like it'll need boring and I think it's already .040" so I may sell this block to a Hot Rodder who'll want to bore it to .060" anyway .
