Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I use my 20% off coupon at Harbor Freight and they end up costing me about 4.25 each. I like the 4.5" size. Be aware which way the disc is rotating on edges. I used up 1/2 of one disc on that fender. The remaining areas that I couldn't get to will be blasted, but the disc is less messy and it literally erases paint and rust. Even takes off the factory undercoating if you work carefully. It's my paint stripper of choice.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Fixed my right blinker. The metal tabs that touch the bottom of the bulb didn't have enough spring in em and wasn't touching the bulb contacts. And needed to sand/clean off where the socket grounds to the housing. Legal beagle now!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Ebay came through with a 10% off coupon just as I was looking for tires so I saved 72.00. Timing is everything and I hope they look good.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Started running down parts and pieces for my own disc brake conversion.
Using the stock '65 spindles and late model rotors/calipers. May not work, but going to mock one up tomorrow, if I can get a bracket cut and massaged. will post pics and description in build thread if successful. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got some new/old chrome wheels.. They are 15x8 and the chrome needs a little work..
The first pic is with the older 215/70/15 This pic is with the 235/75/15. All the tires on these rims are shot, but the are good for a mockup or test fit.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
First piece of advise- shop around. Just because LMC is the cheapest on alot of stuff, doesn't mean they are the best. I've used them on about every project i've had at some point because they are close to me, but I am almost always disappointed that i didn't wait or spend a little more money somewhere else.
Second advise: There are only a very few places that make the sheet metal parts for these trucks- but LOTS of places selling them. There are some real good forums about which brands to look for and what to avoid. Third: Caution, I am known to be quite stubborn and opinionated and tend voice my thoughts randomly! LOL! I base this on over 30 years in this business, building everythng from model A sedan street rods to being on the crew of the 2010 World Fuel Altered National Champion. Fourth: USE ALL THE INFO YOU RECIEVE- there are tons of guys here with so much knowledge at your disposal. Search the forums before posting a thread- chances are your questions have already been asked and answered by someone else. OK time to head for coffee! Have a great weekend everyone! And lets see if someone can get one more of these trucks back on the road(sadly it won't be me this weekend) |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
62 Barnfind, what is that color? When I was in the US Army I rebuilt a 68 Pontiac Tempest Convertible and painted it a metallic blue that looks exactly like yours. I like it.
