Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Finished up the rear brake on the Chevelle. I thought I had a bad axle seal ended up being the caliper . Pain in the butt with the Eldorado d154 with the parking brake I only replaced the one and it took a while to get it adjusted and bled out .

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

We had a guy come out and grind down a stump today. The machine was totally remote control. Last stump we had removed after taking down a tree the machine was moved and handled manually. Lots of work for those guys.

They have come along way.

A few years ago, A company moved a Lathe at work to another location in the shop.

It is a long Lathe.

This Tow motor was Remote controlled.

I wished I would have asked to make a Video.

Reminds me of when I was around 16 or 17 years old.

I was struggling with a uni-lug wheel.

He showed me this same process.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Had a decent weather day, so dragged the Camaro out of the corner I had it stuffed in to clean it and fire it up as its going to be heading to the Portland Roadster Show in a couple weeks to be part of a display. Also tinkered some more on the 409 getting more stuff bolted onto it. Grandpa hurt his shoulder so holding still on yanking the motor out of the Impala as he wants to be a part of that, hopefully next weekend is the weekend finally.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

"Talking" with Truck Haven C10 Parts on FB. Anyone deal with him ? I'm trying to get detailed info about a cab I'm interested in, but he's being rather elusive about details. Looking for aye or nay experiences. Also, where he is located for estimating travel time/distance if I go.
Thanks

Ooo, thanks for the head up on the Roadster Show, I haven't been to that one for years. I just texted a couple of buddies to see if they wanted to drive down.

Its gonna be a good one this year I think. Its the 70th annual one, I know the C10 Oregon group has put together a group of trucks. A lot of the Hall of Fame cars are coming out as well, over 60 High School kids cars entered into the High School Challenge. Show is taking up every hall the Expo has. Ill have the Camaro with the Camaro Club display and then our 56 is a Hall of Fame car and it will be in that area.

Since we can't buy a lawn mower in Calif, we went to Reno. While waiting for assembly, we had a great lunch. Will order the oil filter conversion tomorrow. It was a good day!

It's amazing.

I didn't touch my Bug for 6 years and now I just came down from my frozen garage in the middle of the night after putting more work into a brake job.

I would post this on the Volkswagen Beetle forum but I don't belong to one, this is the only forum of any kind I belong to...so...

Do you winterize the H2O appliences in your shop?
I need to do the same thing to my 914 this summer.

You have a 914, don't waste time like I did.

I'm going to assume you're talking to me, it really doesn't get too cold here but I do shut off the water leading to the garage and open an outdoor faucet when it drops to freezing outside.
The only thing that froze so far is that dang lower star adjuster, took some serious effort to break that free but now I added anti-seeze compound so it will be fine going forward.

That engine is/was a new SCAT 1915CC and I hope I didn't ruin it by letting it sit for so long, it had plenty of pep for a Bug!

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Been researching my power seat dilemma seems I’m going to need a bus can emulator to wake up the little computer on the drivers seat because it has the memory option . Passenger seat works by just juicing it with a battery . Looking into this one .

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

California has implemented a ban on the sale of new gas-powered lawn mowers and other small off-road engines, effective January 1, 2024, as part of efforts to reduce air pollution.
Overview of the Ban
Legislation: The ban is part of Assembly Bill 1346, signed into law in 2021, which directs the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to adopt regulations prohibiting the sale of new gas-powered lawn mowers and similar equipment by 2024. This law aims to transition to zero-emission alternatives to combat air pollution.
2
Effective Date: The ban took effect on January 1, 2024. After this date, retailers are prohibited from selling new gas-powered lawn care equipment, including lawn mowers, string trimmers, and leaf blowers manufactured after December 31, 2023.

Nope. What Sheepdip said is sadly spot on. The dude at Lowes said they can't keep them in stock. He's never seen so many trailers with Calif plates on them. He said the stacks of these are spoken for already. Good for them I suppose, but my sales tax, fuel tax and lunch bill all stayed in Nevada! When the big end of the rod and the crank parted ways weeks ago, I used this old mower to do our 2 acres! My wife is bringing the parts home today to get rid of that Easy Change filter. Life is good.

What don't you like about the JD filter up there ? Looks like it would be "easy to change"... I have a 2010 540X model I got with our current residence.

No doubt this put a premium price on all used equipment sales in state too.

That Fine 409 would sure look good in our 62 SS convertible.

Cost, $50.00, plus no oil drain plug. You leave a quart of dirty oil in the engine. The kit has a drain plug and spin on filter. Can't believe Briggs and JD thought this was a good idea. This kind of explains it.
