Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Hey man, keeping cool lol The shop is finished as of today. Installed the door and all is good. Need to pour an approach still, but it's small and will be a sinch. Don't have pictures online yet, I'll try and get some up when I've got some free time.

Terrific news! I'm stoked for you. We looked into that a couple years ago. Didn't quite have the scratch. Get moved in and git crackin'!

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Thanks, not in hurry over here though. After having restored the truck to its condition, prepping for the garage and 100+ degree temps., I'm kicking back a little. I've got some leftover lumber I'll use to construct a bench for now - otherwise it'll be a while before I settle in completely. The truck should be nearing an end within the next month.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Check out the Turkey Vulture outside my house.
Look closely, it's standing on the, what's left, road-killed squirrel. Big bird, cars driving by didn't concern it

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
The bear has been taken back to its captivity, inside of the school. It was used for a recent (76'?) reunion tour (it was a huge success! ) and will be put back into commission for school football games, etc.... This time however, to prevent it from being vandalized, the school will enlist the resident Marine ROTC to stand guard! How awesome is that!
- semper fidelis Notice the boulder sitting on the left. My Chevy pickup was used to haul it home. Not sure the weight, but my tired old pickup at the time didn't appreciate it much!

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Thanks man The garage is finished but notice in the picture.... I have no approach. I can't pull into the garage until we pour that, which will take one day - one day I haven't scheduled yet. Hope we have a nice fall season. The truck hasn't been given any attention since the last pictures. My brother has many other jobs needing finished and then plans on working on the truck.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Finally, the isle end shelving I nabbed 20 years ago from a department store
closing for FREE, found its re-purpose as I had always envisioned. I have another one needing assembled. Meet the bench top. Left over from the build, was holding two pallets together. Ripped down the middle; I'll double it up.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
I see a lot of insulation in your future . shelves look good, and doubled up that will make a very solid top for a work bench.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
distant future maybe. 3/4" thick to begin with
Humidity thermometer hanging on the gable. It's 73 degrees outside. Thought the ridge vent would have expelled heat a little better -

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Good luck with the ridge vents. You may want end wall vents. That is what mine needs. Nice garage though, and the bear looks awesome!

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
Thanks! I considered solar powered fans, but never bought. Waited to see the final results. The higher temp is up above 8' so you don't feel it bad, but still. I'll wait and see how it is in the winter months. Thing is, I'm not certain what the normal temp range should be.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
From the little I had read, ridge vent is the better alternative.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
I had ridge vents on my steel building, and they suck. Basicaly don't vent enough. In the summer it's brutally hot, the winter it isn't so bad. I put in end wall vents and it is so much better in the summer, and I use less heating it as well.

Re: Project "My Happy Mess"
From what I've read, adding gable fans (or vents only) will disrupt the natural flow of air, thus reducing the ability of hot air to escape simply by rising. That makes sense, but what if I don't care and simply want the entrapped hot air to escape rapidly - thus providing a comfortable working environment, even if it's only while I'm inside. There's a small trade off. I'll probably get the solar controlled fans with kill switch. Without, I'd guess that it'd fair better if it were insulated/finished, but that isn't happening anytime soon.
