Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Got a couple sets of Rally wheels blasted and painted. Need a set for a K10 shorty and a K5 CST we are restoring.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
SoCoC10 - I’m jealous. Been looking for a set of rally’s for a while now. Keep missing them by a day. Arrrggghh!
Son and a few of his college buddies were in today so I got them to lend me a hand with final bed disassemble. Will pressure wash the rear section and start tearing it apart for new springs, seals, brakes, lines, bushings, u joints, etc. Why do photos posted from my phone always post sideways and how can I fix it? Guess I should just use my laptop. Last edited by 67C10Step; 08-31-2019 at 03:29 PM. Reason: Spelling |

Have you considered going Hugger Orange on the rallies? I went Ochre on mine to try it out and I like em. I know it's not for everyone, but I'm liking the look that I think gives it a vintage persona.

Painted the kick panels the golden Fawn color the interior will be. Also tore apart the heater controls and cut off everything that wasn’t necessary. Glued the knobs in place then painted it black how 67’ should be. Doing the same idea with the radio since I’m not using it either. I like the idea of more space under the dash plus any weight savings I’m into.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Finished up the dash wiring , tested all lights and gauges . Everything works great except wipers , I used my old switch and no wipers. I know the motor works , pre tested . And it’s a AAW wiring harness , so I know that’s good again , tested . So new wiper switch it is.
Then onto engine wiring and lighting up front. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Very soon, hopefully tomorrow, I will be able to show off my new door panels - black vinyl and blue/black houndstooth fabric to match the seat. If it wasn't such a fiasco getting this done, I wouldn't be able to laugh about it - and it will be long remembered as a good idea gone bad. I bought a new set, and the houndstooth pattern was not right - an aqua blue. I couldn't return them, so I ordered the correct cloth from a place in Canby, Oregon. Today I took them in for recovering, and the cost is going to be a little higher than I had hoped. To make matters even worse, they can't remove the fabric from the cards (super glued, you might say), so it is tearing them up. They have to make new door cards for another $100. In the end, I will have $1000.00 door panels, or close to it...

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Replaced Fan switch. Old one would not go to 3 without some work. 2 would not work at all. With new switch, 2 still does not work, but 1 & 3 does. Still need to chase this down.
Changed Ignition module in HEI. Truck would start, idle, then die like someone turned off the key. Module seems to have solved it. Somehow managed to stretch throttle cable. Only pulls about 1/4 with foot to floor. Ordered replacement from Classic Parts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
That looks killer, but I could not bring myself to spend $1K on a set of door panels. You probably have the only set like it in the world though.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Let me double check that. For some reason I am remembering 12" I do have to reach a bit to shift - works fine, but I am thinking about adding a longer handle. All in all it works well - it is a cable shifter model

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
They can be had for around $200 online. Just make sure the houndstooth material matches the rest of your interior... I didn't do my due diligence on mine.. Thanks, too, they look great..

Fixed AC fan issue. High was on, sometimes. Low worked on high some times. Ended up being the AC relay. Low, Med, & high now work.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
Too darn hot to achieve much. Painted step supports and got a few fender braces stripped and painted. Got a few more long braces to do and then I’ll sort out two good sets for my truck.
Gonna be hot here the next few weeks so my rear suspension tear down is getting put on the slow roll. Maybe a bit of work in the evenings or weekend mornings. |
