Re: tuba trucks

Tuba Trucks just finished a 1963 Custom Cab short-bed with all kinds of computers and all the complications, that come with them.. but it's done. Or so we hope. I love carbs and points, it makes sense to me, maybe throttle body and HEI buts that's it. Nothing else really makes sense. I know... Old School, but what the hell. We should set our limits to what we know and do it the best we can. So, here it is. The limits are the customer is cool with his truck and we here at Tuba are cool with it, so, is that a good build? Hopefully so. We are a restoration company, there are plenty or of shops that do LS conversions and bagged drops but that is not us, we restore to factory original, or close to it. So, while this is not what we do... at least I think our guys did a good job of doing what we don't do.

Re: tuba trucks

Having walked around this truck over the weekend while the Arkansas Razorbacks kicked butt vs the Cincinnati Bearcats and Clem was watching the game, I can just say that this is a magnificent build.

Tuba Trucks do build Beautiful.

Well done Team.

Thanks Rian, It was a pleasure having you stay with us for a couple of days and the trip to Tom Myers Truck Parts in Miami, OK was a blast. Till next year, safe travels.

Sorry about the rant on the 63. It was a very frustrating build with lot's of do overs. I really believe we could have done two trucks in the time this one took.
Didn't mean to talk down anyones work with LS conversions or air rides. I know they are very cool and I appreciate the knowledge it takes to pull it off. I guess we just don't have it... fortunately, there's room for all of us. We will just keep doing what we do.

OK, I just ranted about the rant... geeezzz

Re: tuba trucks

It's that time of year again.
This is our 12th annual truck/car show and Toy Drive. Each year it gets bigger and more kids have a good Christmas that wouldn't otherwise. Most of you live too far away to come to the party but if you wish to donate you can send money to our paypal... rockhouse205@att.net
We will use the donations to purchase toys for very deserving children. The age group that we support are K through 6th grade. Thank you in advance... it's all about the kids.

Re: tuba trucks

This 65 short-bed custom cab has left the building. It has a Blueprint 350 crate motor and a Tremec 5-speed connected to a 3:73 posi 12 bolt. A 4-5 static drop from springs and spindles plus a drop block. Vintage Air linked with factory AC vents and an original gauge cluster make this hotrod truck a pleasure to drive.
Congrats JB and happy motoring for many years from TubaTrucks.

Re: tuba trucks

Good looking setup for sure. I would love to see a 5spd on the column conversion for some of these trucks with a nice bench seat. I'm sure it would make a lot of people do a double take.

Re: tuba trucks

Almost done on this 66 long-bed. Needs carpet and a little test driving, but that should be it. The engine is a Blueprint 383 with a healthy cam, 700R and posi 3:73 gears. Original light red paint with a grey metallic interior. This one is for a friend in Louisiana and soon he will be driving his dream. Happy Motoring Leon.

Thanks fellas, always appreciate the compliments.

After the green 65 and the red 66 were finished the next one up is the 58 Cameo. The crew here has done a great job bringing the Cameo restoration to a level that may be one of our best builds. This month the inner metal bed was painted contrasting dark blue along with the top and cab window surrounds. Then the bed and bed boards were installed. Next came the fiberglass bed sides and trim. At that point we knew this one was going to be special. Everything that was added after that just took this truck to another 'Oh Wow' moment. Heres some pics. Still a-ways to go but motivation is not a problem. Stay cool... heat exhaustion is real so take care and thanks again.

Re: tuba trucks

Another one has left the shop...
Leon and Regina have taken their 66 long-bed back to New Orleans. They are now part of the Tuba Trucks family and we will be connected for as long as they own and enjoy their truck. The guys here did a great job on this one. Happy motoring Leon and let her drive once in a while.

Appreciate the kind words.

Now that the Louisiana truck has gone home, we have space to work on a few others. The GMC carryall is in paint, The red and black 48 is back from hibernation and the 63 patina is occupying it's own shop. More pics later on those but first the 58 Cameo is ready to roll out.

Re: tuba trucks

The 1958 Chevrolet Cameo has left the shop. This rare two-tone color combo is powered by a second-gen Corvette 327 and a 700R4 overdrive trans. The guys here at Tuba Trucks did a fantastic job bringing this Cameo back to it's previous glory. Plus, we made some great friends in the process. It's really nice when one rolls out and everybody is happy.

Re: tuba trucks

I bet that truck gets it's picture taken a lot on the way home. Aloso some waves and thumbs up.

Do you ever see any of the GMC trucks from the mid to late 50's with Pontiac engines & trans? Those were rare too.

Thanks for a shop update, always enjoyable.
