Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project
Thanks guys. Good quality materials and a LOT of patience makes a difference. Chad has a lot more patience with these things than I do.
Come on down, Chad. I have been working on getting all the little things together to finish the bed. Looks like we are going to have to find some original GM back up light pigtails. I can't get the repro ones from LMC to work. POP

Great work on the bed wood, Pop!
How is the cab and the rest of the truck coming along?

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project
The rest of the truck is still in paint prison. They have aligned panels and have the body prepped and in guide coat ready for final sanding. Then, the inside of the cab will get the BMW Gold and door jambs cut in. Hopefully, one day next week...?
We are not pressuring the shop at all right now because winter weather has arrived here in Southeast Tennessee. I go by the body shop about 3 times a week just to make sure there has been SOME progress. I took breakfast in for the whole shop last week, too. Just letting them know that we appreciate their work on the truck. Maybe that will help motivate them into doing an even better paint job. POP

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project
We are having a little snow and ice here in Southeast Tennessee today so I dropped by the body shop to check on Chad's truck. I had a little brain storm that may (or may not) work for the dash bezel.
Chad is using a BMW Ontario Gold on the truck, so I thought it might be a little different if we shot the bezel in the same gold. The dash and interior of the truck will be this same gold. I photoshopped some dark wood grain onto the face just to see what it looks like. When we get the new face plate for the gauges and get it all back together we will decide if it is a hit or a miss. By the way, that is Chad's truck as it sits now being block sanded and sealed getting ready for some paint... soon I hope! POP

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project
Chad, I'll have to say I really like my Dakota VHX gauges I put in mine. Once get things figured out again I'm going to buy an expansion module so I can monitor transmission temps and maybe a GPS speedo from Dakota also. Can't wait to see some paint on yours. The bed and the wood looks awesome so far

The dash bezel will be a nice touch. It's those little things that give a truck personality. I'm liking the progress.

Hey, what's up buddy. I haven't talked to you in forever. Yeah, it's good to be back to finish this one up. It's probably going to be my last frame off build. Im sure I'll have more trucks but just more of a driver. (you know how that goes.. )

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project
Update from "Paint Prison"...
I dropped by this morning, and we have a little progress on Chad's truck. The new air dash has been painted and cleared as well as under the roof and back of cab. This is right out of the paint booth and will eventually be color sanded along with the rest of the interior. We wanted to personalize the truck a little, so we added Chad's "Rat's Garage" logo on the glove box door. The art has been embedded deeply into the clear, so you can't feel the edges at all. I really like it! POP

Didn't realize until now I've never commented on your build thread. Looks great and love the color combo. Those wheels are really going to complement the truck!

Re: 1969 C10 SWB - Big Block project
I worked on some Porterbuilt pieces for Chad's truck today. After sanding them down I etched primed and painted them a Pewter/Gold color to compliment the rest of the truck. Now, on to the track bar and shock bar.
