Re: How about some pics of your 4x4

Well it's a sad day for me. Apperently my insurance company doesn't feel that this truck is worth repairing. A shame to see one of these old trucks go to the scrap yard, but all the hoops to jump through just aren't worth it once it's been written off.

Re: How about some pics of your 4x4

hmmm heared that one before they go for the book value .
best thing to do to prevent this from happening is haing the truck apraised by a certified person keeping photo's and reciepts of the rebuild or restauration helps with that apraisal too and insure it to that value it will cost more but at least you get the price you payed for it and it might prevent the truck being a total loss
having legal insurance helps fighting the other guys insurance when they have to pay for it ........ that works as long as the other parties insurance company isnt the same as yours

that said i never trust insurancecompanies as far as i can trow a fit you insurance money is safer in a bank during the economycrisis

Re: How about some pics of your 4x4

how about just keeping it and repairing? not going thru insurance.
needs front clip, maybe a minor frame pull. i'm sure theres more damage than appears but it doesn't look too bad to me.
you know.. its a shame to seem 'em get scrapped.

Re: How about some pics of your 4x4

if im correct if a car or truck is totalled the worth of the truck will stay zero no matter if you goldplate it and sprinkle it with daimonds
the insurance payed there deu in there eyes and they whont do it again if you get hit a second time
if you want to redo the truck you might start with a rusted out shell or one with a tired engine with papers from the same year and bolt mecanics and the sheetmetal over to it , that way its worth as mush as you got for it this time

Re: How about some pics of your 4x4

I went through the same thing a year ago and recovered. If you can do all of your own work and find cheap sheet metal it is worth it. The frame is the biggest concern I had and it worked out okay.

Re: How about some pics of your 4x4

Hit a tree. The truck has $8000 damage. There is quite a bit of damage that's noe emmediately apperent. According to the insurance appraisal it's only worth $5000. There are actually quite a few scratches and dents throughout the truck (not from this incedent) deminishing it's value. So I'll take the $5000 and try to get a Blazer.

Smile Re: How about some pics of your 4x4

some pics of the monster....

Yes, I can stuff 44's

you can see my broken body mount in this one...

getting to one of my favorite camping spots

Grind the cab on one side and 200 yard drop to the bottom on the other. I had to cut eight inches off that root ball to get by.

These are just a few of what I have. Now, mind you, i wheel with all toyotas, jeeps and scouts. I am the only fullsize that that can and will follow them anywhere and everywhere they go! My truck is currently in pieces, the 3" body lift is coming off in favor of a 1" aluminum BL, the bushwacker flares have been torn off by trees, so the fenders are gonna get hogged out, got some suspension work to do and eventually a flat bed and 'cage.

if anyone is in my area and wants some awesome wheelin' trips this winter, let me know!

Re: How about some pics of your 4x4

These pics are from about a month ago, took a sweet trip, ended up with a new nick name "Timber" because trees kept falling over with me around. Got some new custom body shape from the surrounding landscape as well....Enjoy!

Airing down at the beginning of the trail.

Caught a big rock on my way outta the "bowl" on the McGrew

crawlin up the canyon....those rocks were swallowing the toyotas on 34's.....
