Re: Die-cast 67-72

I have requested that he does 10. I have plenty of little trucks to send him, so we will see how he answers. WES

Sounds good,Wes.Here`s a way to use up a little touch-up paint left over...strip,wash,prime,shoot white, mask, and lay on the blur:

That's a really nice custom. Looks like you might have a steady stream of buyers

I'd be down for one or two if you can get them.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

Thanks. That thing has single stage PPG `72 Chevy Truck Medium Blue and Frost White.I just wanted to see one with a stock-like paint job and wheels.Just the way I like real trucks.I have some Hugger Orange I was going to try it with. But,I figured the blue was less flashy of a stock color.I wish I had some cool wheels to swap. That`s the first truck I`ve torn down and put back together including new paint in one weekend. And,I did alot of otherthings while I did that!! Wouldn`t it be nice if it was that easy?

It looked cool red oxide primed and looked pretty good all white. But,I`m totally pleased with this look.

You just drill out the rivet in the back.I started small and kept going until the chassis got loose.

I think I`ll do another.I wish I knew how to make tampos. My printer needs installed anyway and I can`t do that ,either.LOL

Re: Die-cast 67-72

well, since i just found this post ill play too

the k20 is a GMC highroller shortbed and the mass produced-available every where 72

the red medium sized on is a mountain rescue thats being modded

recently bought the selections truck on ebay

the yellow and white one was a $5 yard sale find

the green and white dually is the first model i ever built myself... it houses a big block, gooseneck hitch, and 55 stepside fenders for dually fender

the green 69 was a ebay find.. promo maybe? dunno, its a 4 speed with 68 buddy buckets

the blue 72.... bad bad attempt at making it like my 71 c10

and oh? whats this? thats right, cooters wrecker that can fit on a quarter

ignore the cow border... i used to have a whole ertl farm theme going on

Re: Die-cast 67-72

special-K, You could always use the Hotwheels club 69 Stepside for the one with cool wheels and rubber tires. A little expencive for the truck, but it would do the job. Also look at Ultra Hots, for wheels, they usualy have a nicer selection of wheels. WES

Re: Die-cast 67-72

I was looking today.I don`t know how to pull wheels off of axles and visa-versa.I`ve swapped when they were the same axle width and it was easy.
Here`s my Omaha Orange attempt:

I have some Medium Green...still not sure about another.I may do a`62 truck next.Maybe do a Medium Green 4wd `69.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

tim, i was wondering if anyone would notice the tool and stowage box

i hand painted that on there. the 4x4 axles and transfer case came from a mid 80s GMC short bed kit. the pushbar did too. the main kit (72 chevy) is the blue and white one that is so popular and usually easy to find

heres some more pics

Re: Die-cast 67-72

I have that GMC 4wd kit.Well, there are many versions. But,it`s a round headlight truck,late`70s.It was a shortbed, right?Real Ground Hawgs on there.I never fully built that kit, except the frame.I set the blue`72 Fenderside I mocked up on that frame sometimes.
Nice job on that truck.

Re: Die-cast 67-72

Why not just paint the collector truck? No need to change the axles then.
1969stepside, I haven't heard back from the guy yet. He said that he wanted to think about it for a couple of days. I guess that when you add to the fact that I asked him what the charge would be to make my 55 Panels, he needed to think about it more...lol I just hope he doesn't want to get rich from my stuff...lol WES

Re: Die-cast 67-72

Wes,buying a selects just for the wheels is the 1/64 scale version of buying a Brarrett-Jackson vehicle because you like the wheels.

Man,I`m diggin` that factory paint look.I`ve thought about it and not done it,until now.I have a`62 or two I`m doing.I also have wanted to take a 1/24 model kit and making promos in factory colors never made in Promos. It would be an easy build, everything painted one color. The tough part is the narrow whitewalls.I did come up with a set.I just need to get a can of factory-pac.I`m still considering the color.
