Re: Project: "just a little rust repair, turned LS2 swap"

Ok I fought getting these aluminum exhaust tips to polish up the way I wanted them, I tried 6 different "metal" polishes from big name companies with no luck at all. I ordered some 2 step metal polish from Adam's Polishes and the with about 2 minutes of work you can see the dramatic difference. Amazing quality product!

Did someone say diamond stitch? I love it and as for it being "old school", that suits our hobby just fine in my opinion. I mean, what else does it apply to than 40 plus year old vehicles? Here are my diamond stitched Recaro's going into my 72 Chevelle.

Re: Project: "just a little rust repair, turned LS2 swap"

Ok guys I have been off of here for way to long. As to an update on the truck it went to the upholstery shop last Thursday. I have the bed wood in, rear bumper and tailgate on, all the glass in, wheels polished. I'm shooting to have it finished for the weekend of July 11th for the Columbus Goodguys. Supposed to get the grille back this week and the push will be on. The shop is shooting to get it finished up early next week in time to get the grille in and do a final buff and shine. It's almost there! I can't wait!!

Is it the pic or are the two center boards the same as others...that by the way is what gm should have done! The narrow center boards have always irqued my anal side!.....lol...jim

Gorgeous! What I've always wanted to do...I can't stand how quick anodized grills look dull.

I plan in the future when I build my blazer roadster to chrome factory steel hoops and headlight bezels...

Re: Project: "just a little rust repair, turned LS2 swap"

Looks Fantastic! Local chrome shop or did you send it out?

Are you going to re-paint the black? If so, what do you have to do to get paint to stick to chrome?

That grill looks insane. I'm gonna guess a deep maroon/red with that steering wheel cover

It was somewhat close, about 100 miles away so we dropped it off.
I wanted to get it black again, classic parts sells some vinyl stickers for the lettering but there is no good way to paint the chrome to make it stick that I'm aware of.

Re: Project: "just a little rust repair, turned LS2 swap"

I would think a little detailed sanding and some adhesion promoter would have to work for the black paint, but I've never tried it. I'll call my painter and see if he has any ideas.

Re: Project: "just a little rust repair, turned LS2 swap"

This weekend at the 17th Good Guys PPG nationals we got to debut the old truck finally! We were right up against getting it wrapped up Thursday night before we left Friday morning.
I had 0 expectations for the weekend and was just glad to have it there, I entered it Saturday morning in the Trick Truck class to see what would happen. Just so happens at noon on Saturday I was awarded with the 2014 Truck of the Year Late Finalist! I could not and still can't believe that happened! I am very thankful for all the support on here!
