The powder coating looks beautiful! What would you have charged to powdercoat your frame and all the Porterbuilt parts?

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
To powdercoat this job it would run around $1000-$1200 with blasting and a epoxy powdercoat primer basecoat and a solid color powder topcoat. That would include the rear end and all suspension parts. We also apply a 3 stage phosphate wash and a sealer /rust protector also.

Jimmy,
These are the fun jobs... I learned many years ago not to over charge people.

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
Looking for some new vintage tin.... 1960-1966 GMC can be a long box or a step side. Must be a GMC prefer 64-66 vintage with custom trim. Basket cases welcome. May build a " GMC Cameo" if I find the right donor truck..

Can't wait to see that one! And it looks like a 66 by the square GMC letters in the grille.

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
Yes Tony,
There is a little problem with the year ... title says 1965 the guy I bought it from says it is a 1966 ? Dino... yes I am addicted .... Maybe I should just send this one out to Burbank , CA and let it be "DELMOized" ... maybe It would get done then ? We are swamped here with powder coat work and have a huge project going to Detroit for the Ridler in 2012 .... so project " NO PAINT" has kinda been put aside for awhile....

if it's between F1001 - F20000 it's a 64 if it's between F20001 - F40000 it's a 65 if it's F40001 and up it's a 66 If it was made in Oakland or Freemont it decodes like this: if it's between F1001 - F7000 w/o I6 or F1001 - F4000 w/I6 it's a 64 if it's between F7001 - F12000 w/oI6 or F4001 and up w/I6 it's a 65 if it's F12001 and up it's a 66 I'm guessing that since it's a shortbed it's a 1/2 ton 2WD. If so the VIN should start with 1001, 10 = 1/2 ton and 01 = short wheelbase (If the VIN starts with an "I" it was an I6 truck), followed by a letter designating the manufacturing plant. P = Pontiac, C or H = Oakland and Z = Freemont. After that should be the "F" (indicating 64-66) followed by the build number and an A or B for the GVW rating. Hope that helps.

GMC's are not trimmed like the chevrolets and the parts are a lot harder to come by.......trust me I know. I am currently looking for custom trim for mine and only want a set of letters for the cab sail area and cannot find them. the side trim is a simple 1 piece of chrome and it can be purchased from LMC......gauges, dash bezels, steering wheels, hubcaps are all different. another rare option for a gmc which was not available for chevys was bucket seat with a center jump/armrest option.....I'll go back and look, find the links and put them in this post in a little while.. ![]() |

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck
I really like that scripted Custom on the side of the cab over the sail panel the chevys got.
To my eye it is more subtle and classy. Any idea where I can get it?
