Re: My 52 GMC Build

Here are some details
1= They project quite well and up close look blueish but out far look white
2= LED 1157 up close
3= Close up of headlight they are DOT approved and glass. I went with the black surround because I didn't like how the clear sealed beams stood out. I'll get a picture of the lights in the daylight soon.
4= The make of the HID's
5= Make and part # of headlights
In total I spent about $250C for the headlights, HID's and LED 1157's. Bought it all on ebay.

That's bright Lower!
Do you still have low and high beam, or is this something completely different?

Re: My 52 GMC Build

I bet you'll be getting people bright lighting you all the time. I put 3500k HID's in my wife's excursion and had them aimed down for 2yrs. About a month ago I raised them up to normal level, and now she gets bright lighted all the time. They are pretty bright so now I'm going to try to find something still bright, but not blinding.

Ya I'll have to see what it's like. If you look at the pic with my trailer you can see they have a nice cut off line.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

So had a really productive weekend. Got signals working with indicator, cooling fan with over ride sw, high beam indicator and today got the door seals installed.
Wow that fan moves a lot of air. Not much to show pic wise but here are some more headlight shots. Still need to put bezels on but what do you guys think? I think they suit my truck much better than the sealed beam (last pic).

Re: My 52 GMC Build

So when I woke up today at 2:30 pm. I called my insurance guy and said I would like insurance on my new truck. He laughed when I told him the year. So a few minor questions as of today I have insurance on my truck
I have had these licence plates for 9 years, just waiting for this moment. My friend Joe is writing my safety then off to the MTO (DMV)
So then I went out and mounted my licence plate and light. Also finally installed the compressor circuit beaker. Yes I know it is upside down but I needed the batt post on the top.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

Headlights look great, would be interesting to see a night photo on the road with low & high beams.

I like your license plate also, here in N.C. we can't purchase a vehicle plate without showing proof of insurance.

I dont like the headlights, but I didnt buy them! I dont think they detract from the truck though, just not my taste, and the rest of the truck is staggeringly great!

Thanks i'll get one soon after it's on the road. Custom plates you own, don't even need a vehicle.

Re: My 52 GMC Build

So yesterday and today I got a lot done. Installed a regulator and valve for my air horn and hooked up the button, installed my limiting straps for my rear end, adjusted the rear brakes, got the wipers working with the sw, ordered some wiper arms, put the grill back on. Also adjusted my doors, now they close real nice with the new seals. So my list is getting shorter. I have about 2 weeks, the plan is to drive my truck around the block on April 16 (my bday)
Also Joe has my safety I'll get it tomorrow and MTO Friday.
Air horn vid, regulator is only at 60 psi

The air horn will get attention!

I've never seen limiting straps for a rear end before.

Contact Zehr insurance, believe they are in new hamburg, they specialize in bikes and antique insurance. You will definitely need an appraisal, need it to be covered for what it is worth in case the worst should happen.

I have a much louder one on my Jeep. I had to put the straps on. When we where painting the truck we lifted the rear with a forklift and stretched the air bags and they started leaking around the ends. I guess they don't like to hold up a 300lb axle. So new rear air bags and limiting straps.

My dad has a car insured with them. I will be driving the truck too much and to work I don't qualify due to that. I may switch at some point when I see how often I drive it.
