Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
The hood looks great. I love black car/trucks but they are a pain to keep clean but they look sharp.

I had a buick GN and it was sweet looking (black) but your are right they will kill you in the time it takes to keep them clean. I can't wait to see your green and how nice i am sure it's going to look knowing you! You do everything the right way.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Kabwe-
Factory color or special mix green? Just curious. When we were looking for my color green we looked at snake skin green (dodge) to some house of color greens and anyhting in between. The idea for my shade of green came from Kawasaki. They made a sport bike back in the 80's in a simular (tri coat) color green. They re-released the color some 4-5 yrs ago. Problem was Kawaskai wanted to kings ransome to order the paint from them direct. We went the custom mix route and kept it to a 2 stage paint. Not easy to do and still have the effect of a tri coat. Looking good. Marc

Mine is a factory color. I knew it would be green because after years trying to decide I kept coming back to green. The problem is there are so many different shades of green, than you have metallic or solid. BTW love your green man. I was thinking and just about set on a very soft solid green but the direction of the truck started calling for a green with more pop to it. So I started looking at every new car that drove down the street for a color I liked. Once day I bought my daughter some jolly rancher candy open the bag and saw that apple green.lol I went to the paint supply and tried to match, but fell in love with a kia color.lol Its lighter than what I had in mind, but I think it will look pretty good and different. Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
LOL. Yeah I guess I'm getting old. But I thought you get meaner when you get older.lol Anyway the truck will not be two tone. I like 55 2nd series one color plus youngrodder has a sweet black and green truck and I'm no copy cat. I like to be different. It will be low and green and hopefully mean.
Okay guys I guess I'm getting nicer because I will show you the wheels I bought. I called today and they said another two weeks. I really wanted post pics of them when they come in but here you go. I went with these 18x7 and 18x10. tire size will be 225/45 in the front and 295/45 in the rear. I paid more than I would have liked but I like them and you only live once right. |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Well I decided to start getting the rear fenders ready for primer. I wanted to use these for the truck because they were giving to me by a buddy who bought new ones and he has passed away (He knew they were rough but did not want to throw them away). So I wanted something of his on the truck, so I went to through the trouble of saving them.
My question is do you know what evils lives under your primer? This is what I had to cut away. Yikes Remember those repop fenders that I told you I like keeping just incase? Well they provided the majority of the patch panel. A little tweaking and they worked fine. That little rust spot that was left I just formed my hand. And here it is, almost ready for primer a little more welding and hammer and dolly work to do and very little filler will be needed now.lol Last edited by Kabwe; 04-30-2012 at 12:59 PM. |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
I went with 18 because I did not want rubberband tires. I've seen 20's with huge tires but the trucks were bagged so they did not have to worry about the truck being too high. I'm not bagged and I like that muscle look on a truck. I wanted to run some meat on the rear. Like this, Its not a chevy but I like how this looks in the rear fender well. I would show the whole truck but Chevy purist may get mad. I'm more a carnut than a chevy nut.lol I do wish it had a little more lip though. I believe this is a 17 if my memory serves me correctly.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Man your hood is awesome. It looks like it is brand new. Those rims are really nice. On your car how much of an offset did you have them do on your rims? Looking to change the offset of a pair of rims I have.

These are my car wheels, they have a 4 inch backspace. I put them on the truck to see if I really wanted to go with 18's. Now you must have the room I narrowed my rearend on the car and the truck. Last edited by Kabwe; 04-25-2012 at 02:26 PM. |
