HARRR! I saw that movie! There's a guy who lives near me who has a couple of Pintos. One is a panel that has the port hole windows. The other is a hatchback. He's a rather unapproachable guy. I talked to him one time in a local supermarket parking lot, and he wanted nothing to do with talking about his vehicles, so I wished him a nice day and walked away.

He musta still been mad that the Chevy dealer was all out of Vega panels on the day he went there.

I had a Vega Panel "truck". I used to buy, fix and sell Vegas, in the early '80s. I put a GT engine in it, which also had the 3.36 "performance" axle. With a shift kit on the 350 trans, it would burn rubber off the line and going into second. My new wife had fun with it at the stop lights. Little white panel truck with GT wheels as the only indicator of its potential. It had a cargo box instead of a second seat, so it was really light. What a kick that thing was.

Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

Steeveedee - I bought a new 71 Vega Kamback at City Chevrolet in Charlotte, NC in May of 71. It was the base model 4 speed. Over the years I added the Performance Gear, the GT cam, Offy 360 Dual Port intake, Holley 390, Hooker Header, Appliance rims and the first set of 60 series BFG radials to make it to New England. Also I made it into a panel. I still have trophies from New England Dragway from running it. Didn't loose because I was running L/Stock and everyone had to wait for an eternity for their green light that led to many red lights and missed gears. Lots of fun.

Re: ChevyLand ‘The Truck Photo Tour’

We drove this one into the ground
He’s in the recycling business
Says it drives strong still
Think he leaves a piece of the truck at the scrap yard
Each time he visits
For gas money to get home
