It's really creative how you put the whole JAG cage in there
Is it going on bags? It's quite low this way?

I will certainly tell Bam you said "Hey". He is doing some dry wall in his garage, so when he is done with that he will start back on the truck. Donnie says thank you for the compliment on his fab work on his '57.

By the way I have been visiting your page off an on, nice work can't wait to see it when it's done, I dig all your ideas.

No air bags. Donnie is trying to get as low as possible and still be a driver without the bags like he did with his '55 before he sold it.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

RockinKees I thought you might like to check out this Buick project on here with Jag suspension using the cage as well. check it out. This guy does some amazing work.

Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...653170&page=13

Check out his truck project. He took a pick up and a Suburban and made a '72 crew cab which was never made by Chevy in '72

A side note, I took the photos of the truck when it was all ready completed because I spotted it outside of a BBQ joint I was eating at in Memphis TN. last year while visiting family. The owner (Drew)was in the restaurant too but we didn't meet until I posted photos on here.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

Currently doing one piece door glass work on my doors. Here is a link that's on here that has helped me out tremendously. Watch their videos, very helpful.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=366078&page=3

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=366078&page=4

Personal preference, removing the vent window gives the truck a cleaner look.
I did not know at the time when I sold my old wing/vent windows Well surprise surprise I did not know I would need some of the old parts to make my new one piece windows work properly when I install them.

I have heard complaints from different folks recently about the manual and power window one piece door glass kits from sticking , coming of the track, jamming or they don't roll the window all the way down.

I talk to acquaintance of mine that is a lead tech at an auto-glass shop that services exotics and classic cars and he said he would supply me with the glass but he refuse to install 1 piece glass on 55-59 Chevy /GMC trucks because they are a headache and it's trial and error to eliminate the sticking or hesitation problem when rolling the windows up weather it's manual or power.

So to fix my problem I went over to my friends house Donnie with the '57 Chevy truck with the Jag suspension I have been posting photos of on my page.

I had to remove one of his vent windows to measure and take pictures of a part & make a card board template, I need to make for my truck. Then I went out and got some scrap metal and started the fab work and follow the directions posted by blackdiesel http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=366078&page=4

Yeah I am but any one that wants to do it really needs to rely heavily on that video I posted a link too from Blackdiesel. Some of the still shots just don't do as much as watching some one demonstrate it.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

The part I had to make was the front track that was once apart of the wing window. I cut it down to 24in. I also made the bracket for it and welded the nuts on to it so I can run the bolts through the door to secure it. Be low the top left photo is from blackdiesel showing the placement of the window tracks and how to position them. The red outline is the new position/placement of the window tracks. The other photos show the wing window track I had to make but this time it is only 24in. long.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

Now I have to remove the rear window track at the rear of the door right by the striker/latch plate where the door latches shut. Look at red circle in photo.

To remove the rear window track you will need to drill out 6 spot welds that are even visible under the paint. Two spot welds behind the striker/latch mechanism and too near the lower portion of the door.

After you remove the window track discard the 4 hole bracket you just cut the spot welds off of, you will not be needing that part any longer.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

Next cut an opening as you see in the photos. When you reinstall the window track you need to be able to move it back 1/4in. and tack weld it in place (DO NOT secure the bottom of the window track till near the end of the window final fitment)

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

Again follow the photos coz I don't do such a gr8 job explaining myself.

Due to the re-positioning of shortened wing window track (circle in red) you will need to trim the back side of the window regulator for clearance as the window rolls up and down without making contact with the track.

Will try to post more stuff Lord willing in the next couple of days.

Again the most helpful resource is not the truck shops that's for sure, go to this link here on '67-'72 and You Tube. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=366078&page=4
