Re: Rat repair.
When you get the compressor you will be happy with it. I know I am. Mine has never let me down. If you get it before Christmas, all you will want to do is nook up and make the wifey upset. Not enough time before Christmas, but good luck George

Re: Rat repair.
Well i guess i must be getting antsy..
The delivery guy just called and said he has the compressor and plans on delivering tomorrow, he has to call me between 7 and 8am tomorrow to confirm delivery time (yikes!) I told him i work swing but will be up to receive the phone call. He confirmed that they can unload and hand truck it right into my garage for me, awesome! Will still have to call the electrician to finish the hook up when the time comes, but first I'll have to get it uncrated, don't know yet if I'll be able to use my engine hoist to help lift it off the pallet? figure that out later..

Re: Rat repair.
Early Christmas Present!
Overkill, Maybe, could i have gotten by with a 60 Gal, yes, could i have gotten by with a less expensive compressor, yes...... Will i ever need to buy a better compressor, no! I have been saving for a year to get this..... Its been on my want list every since i bought the red Craftsman, just not sure what brand i would get.. The delivery coordinator said i would expect a call between 7 -8am, the truck was in my driveway at 7:40 and no call....... The delivery guys said they were a little nervous about it and very concerned about not damaging it, said it was the slowest drive they have done.. Ok with me! On the pallet and lifted with the pallet jack the top of the crate cleared the garage door opening by 1/4" LOL! Very secure on the pallet but the surrounding frame is pretty much for looks only.. I was a little surprised at how thin the metal gauge is on the legs. The biggest job now will be getting it uncrated and not tipping it over LOL! all in due time, not gonna be in a hurry. I have a 4-5 year old used air compressor for sale now, local only, works great for what it was intended, new it was $327 on sale, what should i ask for it? $100? If course I'd clean it up before advertising it.

Re: Rat repair.
WooHoo! Looks like that puppy could suck all the air out of the room when it's running. Hope it works great and lasts till you're plumb out of projects.

Re: Rat repair.
Uncrated today, Looks right at home and lots smaller, still have to call out the electrician to get the breakers and do the final hook up. My buddy John from work stopped by today and helped with getting it off the pallet, he was able to scrounge up a 3' X 3' piece of conveyer belt, reinforced rubber about 1/2" thick, I'm gonna cut that down and put it under the compressor, and because the garage floor slopes i will cut a second strip to raise up the down side.
Lowe's called and said my Warranty service kit is in so I'll pick that up tomorrow as some kinda adhesive to spot tack the rubber to the floor to hopefully keep it from moving when sliding the compressor over over the top of it. I'm not going to lag the compressor to the garage floor but i am going to make a beefy bracket and lag it to the wall instead. The shelf on the right and the one above had to be cut out and removed, the old compressor sat under the lower shelf. And now i'm questioning if my manifold, water traps, 3/8 hose and fittings are gonna be too restrictive for blasting, won't know till i cross that bridge.. figured i'd try and get by with these first before i looked at using a blast pot. http://www.eastwood.com/blast-out-of...asive-gun.html http://www.eastwood.com/speed-blast-...d-blaster.html

Re: Rat repair.
Here is what I did on my k20 4" lift
I just fabricated little brackets in just the right location attached the brackets to the crossmember and the bracket for my sidewinder winch support The support is a 5/16" angle bolted as a crossmember for the winch |

Re: Rat repair.
Awesome Christmas present ! The belt driven ones are sooo much quiter !
How many cfm is it good for ? I've always wanted a media blasting cabinet, but I just don't have the room for it. What I really need is a bigger garage.....

17.8@90psi 17.7@100psi 17.2@175psi One potential issue i have noted is that all my air fittings are 1/4" pipe and have a pretty small inner diameter bore, i'm going to be stepping up to the 3/8" at least on my manifold and hose reel, then I'll make an adapter to go back to the smaller quick disconnect for the tools that don't need a lot of air. I just found out that there is a local chain called Coastal Farm and Ranch in a nearby town, we decided to drive there yesterday and have a look as we never been to one. I found out they also carry the same compressor and have them in stock, non sale price is $87 cheaper, gonna call Lowe's and see if they will price match and put a little money in my pocket. Wish i could say i have been making progress on the truck but I have been instead enjoying some vacation time with my wife and doing other stuff. I'll be getting back at it soon.

Yes Coastal is right next to the Super Mall in the old Walmart building, lots of tools and other goodies, super huge roll away of a brand i cant remember but it seemed better than anything from Harbor freight. Lots of compressors in stock, 80, 60, and smaller ones, ranch stuff, auto stuff, hunting stuff, cloths and more. Yes to Tractor supply too in the old K-Mart building, both places have just been added to my favorites.

Re: Rat repair.
Possible route is to use 3/4 CPVC and plumb the perimeter of your garage. It worked well for me. This route allows for your 3/4 manifold to flow around your entire garage.
I also installed an automatic drain solenoid (sp). It drains my compressor for 10 seconds every 12 hours. Keeps everything nice and dry but will scare the crap out of you the first few times it releases |

Re: Rat repair.
I would hard pipe it. I used cpvc and it blew apart in the middle of the night. Cold weather froze the pipes at the drain and I had to go and it off in the middle of the night. I thought here in Fl. that I would be safe. I hard piped the drain now everything is fine. But, if you use the automatic drain you will be ok with the cpvcx3/4

Re: Rat repair.
Hey guys i got a question. I started a thread for a garage heater and have been doing some research i ruled out most of them and decided to stick with a 220V versions. I have been looking for a celing or wall mount heater that i can plug into my 30 amp wall outlet that i use for my welder, i found a few heaters i like, the one in this link i almost pulled the trigger on today but i read down and noted that in the "Frequently bought together" they list a 4 wire pig tail and plug, i have a 3 prong plug for my welder. House was built about 1974. One of the reviews did say he used a 3 wire pig tail, anybody know if these units can be wired ether with 3 or 4 wire pending application?? I imagine this would be a common problem, i just don't wanna pull the trigger unless i got a couple opinions first as i'm not a 220V expert
Amazon.com - NewAir G73 Electric Garage Heater -... . Here's the heater thread if your interested, my last post shows a few more candidates. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...67#post6998467
