Re: 1958 Apache 38 Dually Dump Project

We also welded and smoothed the upper fender to cab seams...continuing our effort to make the cab and front clip one piece.

Re: 1958 Apache 38 Dually Dump Project

Tonight we rounded off the mid front corner of both doors. I saw this on at least one build in here and thought it flowed nicely...so we thought we'd give it a try. We'll shape it a bit better once we spend some more time on lining up the doors...close for now though.

Thanks DW, we just needed a break from sanding through the years of paint on the doors.

On that note, we started on the hood...this time using both paint strippers and sanding. It might have been easier to have these media blasted somewhere, but right now we have more time than money...so it's time we're spending!

Also pulled the light buckets to start fitting in the halo HIDs...heavy undercoating way back when kept these parts in pristine condition.

Nice work! Pre sandblasting those buckets, they kind of looked questionable huh? They look perfect after though.

MY son was able to simply chip the hardened undercoating off before media blasting.

Yea, we were kinda wondering what might be underneath...those coatings can be a blessing or a curse, either protecting base metal or holding crap against it.

Re: 1958 Apache 38 Dually Dump Project

Pulled the cab for the last time hopefully...still have alot of work left on it though. Took advantage of the opportunity to pull the chassis out and wash a bit of the dust off before moving the batteries down to the frame...also bolted a few things on to check fit before sending the steps out for powdercoating.

Re: 1958 Apache 38 Dually Dump Project

Just busy making up the bracket to move my 66's battery from the engine bay to under the cab.

Yours looks 100 times more slick though.

Thanks Grizz, I took the easy way out and picked up a dual battery box from Ruffstuff Industries. All I had to do was weld a couple tabs off the bottom to mount it where we did.

Nice detail on the mud flaps. Carrying the theme on in a tasteful way.

Good idea on getting a quality steering column.

Your truck is so awesome.
