Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

amazing how popular these have become... I helped design the first tank that Dave started making for our trucks. Others have kits out there but the prices are way higher...

BTW, I still have mine sitting in storage! I like the newer designs with the curved rear portion.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

I got one a year+ ago, it fit like a glove and has worked flawlessly since. I replaced a poly tank that worked but wasn't very big or nice to look at.

If I remember correctly, all group buys are through Pro Performance guys, yes you can go through Dave's website to purchase, but I think PP has the GB.

Good luck to all!

Clyde,

My frame should be the same as yours so good to know it will mount up. refresh my memory, how low is your truck? Also any idea on how low the tank hangs below the frame? Hoping to go all the way down with porterbuilt so thinking I may have to mount the tank inside the frame rails for a little extra clearance, but curious about how low it hangs below the frame on yours?

My truck is about 4.5-5" dropped in the back. It hangs about 4 or so inches below the rails IIRC. If you have your bed off and you are planning on raising the bed floor, you could mount it on top of the rails. Ill try and get you a pic of the tank and the placement in the morning.

Thanks Clyde,

Mines a suburban so trying to keep the floor back there as low as I can, but can probably adjust it if I had to. I guess I'll just have to give it a try to see how high i can get it wth the stock floor. My current tank is about 13" tall and is right at the floor. thanks for the info!

The A1000 and stealth 340 are totally different pumps.

the stealth 340 is best used in EFI applications under 600 HP. It runs perfect with LS style engines.

The A1000 is used when HP is between 600 and 1300HP and when running turbos, superchargers or lots of nitrous.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

If I buy the stealth tank/pump is it upgradeable to the A1000 pump at a later time? or is the tank totally different?

Is the a1000 tank available in a side fill?

Thanks

The tank structure, pump opening and bolt pattern are totally different so there is no way to upgrade to the A-1000 From the stealth 340.

yes, the A1000 is available in side fill. I will add that option to the website this morning.

The stealth tank would fulfill my needs for now... BUT... I am wanting to possibly go Supercharged in the future... So I am thinking A1000 tank...
Would it be any issue to use this tank/pump on the non 600 hp engine for a yr or 2 until I get the SC added? extra stain on the pump or possibly the fuel system on the engine since it does push a higher volume of fuel?

Thanks

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

I just placed an order on your website for a Side Fill Standard tank. I added a Sending Unit and Rollover Vent, as well as the powdercoat option. I would like to be able to convert to EFI in the future, so please provision the tank for the Return Line also. Please call me if there are any questions about my requests above. My name is Keith Cromwell, thanks.

Also another question about the side fill tanks?
when installed as designed does the fill tube fit between the bed and the frame or is a notch or something required?
Thanks
