Re: 67 long box
Thanks, I hope to get my slip yoke soon as I ordered it on the 10th. I'll fill the tranny and fire it up. It will be within a week or should be. I've got a bit of interior work to fix and a new shifter lever.

Re: 67 long box
Finally got the "piece of resistance" to stop the Kra__ Gl_e from running out of my tranny. Now I can attach the wheels to a spinning thing. Ok enough yoking around and get this thing done. Right after I hit Stirling and Lindsay swap meets this weekend.

Re: 67 long box
I guess one of the times I put it up on stands one was under my exhaust pipe and bent it , no bid deal, well now it hits the new tranny x-member. Red neck exhaust straightener.

Re: 67 long box
Hey doc I read through almost all of your build. Amazing stuff. Two questions: on the wheel tub how did you solve the structural issue? And what type and thickness of wood was used for your door panels?

Re: 67 long box
In this pic I cut the two middle x bars and connected them on the side. I have an angle bolted to the bed side that holds the first and forth x bars to hold the ends. When the tub goes in it bolts in with 10 bolts it makes it part of the structural supports. The first three x bars are bolted to the frame and the forth x bar is bolted to the composite boards. If that helps, I not even sure how I figured it out some times. LOL I used 1/8 MDF for the door panels and the strips on the panels.

Re: 67 long box
Power steering all went in perfect, so did the hydraulic master with the small hidden bracket, and all coming together. I'm hoping to fire it today, soon very soon.

Re: 67 long box
I fired it up tonight and it sounds great. Took it out for a spin and the tranny shifts perfect, clutch works perfect and has a lot more power for sure.

Re: 67 long box
I bolted down the bed box I picked up for free. I took my old 2bbl air cleaner and made it fit the 4bbl. I needed to raise it up so I had to make a spacer ring that I made fit to an old 4bbl 6 1/2 " cleaner. I drilled out all the holes in the base to allow more air but I may need more. I'm trying to find another 2bbl cleaner to add a second snorkel from it but no luck yet. Added a custom tequila cap, screw down for the breather. I might add that it was dam good tequila too.

Re: 67 long box
If you just need the snorkel I can bring one when I come next week. I have an extra 67 breather that I can remove the snorkel.

One breather fully snorkumsized. I found a 5" breather base in Red Deer. Super hard to find. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1526260018

Re: 67 long box
Well things aren't sounding good in the engine, not sure if I got some bad lifters or I got a problem with the oil pump. So I either need to pull the engine or what just yet. I'm going to pull the intake off and see if it's bad lifters. I may have jarred the pick up tube on the oil pump when I had the hoist mishap or I have a bad pump.

Re: 67 long box
Yes, I have flat lifters. Set the engine at TDC and set the rockers on 1 and 6. turned the engine 90 deg and 8 and 5 then 90 degs again 4 and 7 and turn 90 to adjust 3 and 2. Then 3/4 of a turn to set preload on each rocker. Pre lubed all and filled with oil, then primed oil with a speed wrench till oil pressure showed. Pre filled the carb and started, ran at high idle till temp was up , set timing. I ran it up to 3000 rpm for 5 mins then idled and it sounded great. Took it out for spin 10 mins later it started ticking and I've not had good oil pressure once up to temp.

Re: 67 long box
What a drag man.... Your break in is what I understood the proper method to be, and worked fine for me umpteen years ago on the rebuild of an inline 250. I hope you don't have any internal damage yet. Good luck finding the issue.

Re: 67 long box
Your quite welcome on the snorkel. Glad I could contribute to your work in progress. It was great to see you again. Thanks for the 67 column shift lever and dome light cover. We fly out of the Hammertown Thursday at 0700. Until next time my friend.
P.S. Hope you find an easy solution to your oil pressure drop. Michael

Re: 67 long box
I 'm going to start pulling it apart today after I get back from the doc again. They've got to make some more setting changes in my neuro stimulator, it's not helping as much as hoped, but I'm still grateful it's in. I'm going to pull the intake to check the lifters first.

Re: 67 long box
Well things aren't looking like an easy fix so out it comes again. all the lifters look good and have the right amount of pre load. So new rings, bearings, high pressure pump(again) as they come without warranty, and a re-hone and try again. It's a good thing to learn patients, because there will be a time your patients will be tested and this is one of those times. Time for a shot tequila and a Vernor's ginger ale.
