Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Thanks for the pep talk, it'll be cool, once I get over it.
Didja charge it? How'd it do?

I'm still working on it. Need to wire up the binary safety switch and finish a few other details. Hopefully will have it charged by the end of the week!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
I'm still blown away at how a collection of parts from every car or project we've had got put together and it works freaking' awesome. The in-dash portion of this set-up sat outside in a trash bag next to my garage for years. I was going to throw it away because I thought I would never use it. The condenser came from one of Brad's projects, the switches came out of a motorhome in wrecking yard, the fittings were bought on eBay and crimped by a buddy, and the mock-up compressor came out of a Chevy Sprint I used to own (which is a hilarious story all on it's own).
The coolest part of it all is that it's TOTALLY invisible and it works awesome. I used to think that building an A/C system from scratch was only for the Pros, but not anymore. Once you study how an A/C system works, and you think about it from a hot rodder's perspective, it's easy.

It's 580 miles to the salt, so it's a cool road trip! That would be a slight detour to come by and grab you! Lol

Building your own AC from scraps puts you in Mechanical Gods status in my eyes. Cool truck. (no pun intended)

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Here's another build all you low buck, detail freak, hot rodders should follow. My friend Alex has been building a '64 Chevy pickup that is off the chart cool and being he's cheap like me, it's pretty low buck! LOTS of *****in' little ideas to show that it's not always about spending big money to just buy and bolt stuff on! Check it out and keep on his case to finish it up...http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=446527

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
More 'Liner stuff... Worked on the steering "cage" latch. I won't go into all the fab stuff so you guys won't be too bored, but I'll show you what I did. I made some little pieces on the lathe and mill and made a spring loaded setup. When it's in the "detent" it's latched, but pull it back and swing it over and it's unlatched. Pretty simple and it works, just needs final welding.
