Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I had to redo the oil pan as everyone says to put dabs of rtv in the corners to the block with it so I did. Hope this is the last time it's upside down and hope it doesn't leak. Now I can finish the top side!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

These are my goodies for this engine to make it period correct. I have doubles of most. Going to put the block heater in this afternoon. The one cord is original from my 67 and the other is Nos. The angle of the plug to the heater is different and the Nos is about a foot longer and has a ground on it.

Making sure all the brackets line up and so far so good. Not going to mount the ac compressor till its in the truck. Now to take the accessories off and get it in the frame and start it!

I almost don't want to hide this detail with the cab and hood. You must be relaxing this weekend. I'm waiting for more of your assembly pictures.

She's been winning some battles. Hopefully more progress in the coming days...loving what you're cooking though. Thanks for the pics!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

So I have been fighting my distributor for. The last while. It won't sit down clean to the intake. It sits 1/8" or 0.010 high and bottoms out. Heads were shaved, block was not decked. All gm parts here and were checked by professionals before I assembled it. I've tried everything so I guess the pans gotta come back off and take a look at the oil pump-shaft connection. Thats all that's left. Good thing I haven't put oil in it yet. I have tried a few hei dizzy and they all sit exactly the same.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

How thick is the distributor gasket? I measured one and it seems to be about .054" thick.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I'm just worried if I double it up and tighten it down it will bind or put too much pressure on the oil pump.

Right. Best to find out what the problem is and fix it properly.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Got it fixed. Just lightly tapped the oil pump shaft down and it dropped a little. Now the distributor sits nicely. Next to get the driveline on the frame

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Is the T400 and gear vendor unit the plan for the drivetrain?

So far out of all my truck engine/trans/gear combos, my favorite by far was the T400/Gear venders/3:73 in my 78 SWB. Loved it!

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

It was supposed to be running before Xmas. Guess I missed that ship. I'll probably get it all in the chassis Tuesday. From there It will probably be a month. Need to get my rad done still before I can run it.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

My next modification. Ez lift tailgate and tailgate lowering damper from the newer Silverados. When completed you will never even know a mod was done with the gate on the truck. Plus I'm going to use the trunions with the delrin bushings to quiet down the gate when in use.

That is awesome! I was just wondering if that would be possible the other day. Where did you get all the parts?

If you look at member crossbreed's build in the blazer area at the end of it he gives all the part numbers and shows how it all works. It's sweet.
