Re: 1969 Short Wide

Major milestone done. I temporarily installed my new radiator and hoses tonight. I promised a video.......... and I needed to check out the engine more than a few seconds. I love the Magnaflows
Don't make fun of my quick and dirty ignition switch or temporary wiring.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

oops...meant to say the core support was NOS (corrected in my post) the rad is aftermarket since the factory had a completely flat top on them. Looks a lot like the one I got for my 72 super project....definitely a great deal under 200!

Nice score on the parts. I am sure they will save you some time... I see several parts on the truck that I could use. The Flowmasters sound great! That is how I plan to run my exhaust with the kick downs in front of the rear axle. Keep at it and by no time you will be cruisin up the road.

Thanks Juanito! I'm with you on the mufflers. And it has been a huge research project. I couldn't have done it without help from Brendon at lt1swap.com and all the guys on here. They probably get tired of all the dumb questions"oh crap it's that ignorant Okie again"

Thanks Rex! Okay, since you mentioned it. The first crank over was done in gear. I wasn't for sure where park was on the tanny. If you look close the rear diff is jacked up for that very reason before I tried it.
I also found out the tranny has reverse and foward gears last night. But, I don't have brakes so I had to kill it to put it back in park.

Re: 1969 Short Wide

A kid in the auto hobby shop drove his car through the wall because he thought it was in park when it was really in low but just a little low on fluid. It was running but not moving so he got out and was messing with the timing, reved it up and it took off.

After seeing that I always pull the driveshaft before starting an engine in an incomplete vehicle. Better safe than sorry.

Sounds awesome Mike! One day I would love to do a LS motor in one of my trucks. However at this point I am so backlogged in projected I don't have enough life left to finish them all...
