Re: My '59 Apache
You're welcome, if you lived around here I would be coming to you for paint advice!
Did you do any more work on the little sports car you bought? Triumph, I think?

sway bars and test drive
Hi! I drove my Betsy (that name sound OK?), Betsy just seems like a good old fashioned name
![]() oh, anyway, I drove Betsy(what's er name) to the paint store to get some polishing compound, and thus had the opportunity to see how the truck responds to curves, turns, and general driving. IT does drive a little bumpier, but the truck is like Ogre said, "drives like an over sized go-cart", darn, someone else said it would drive like your on rails, and that is a good description as well! Seems like the steering is a little sharper too. It's an incredible upgrade! Now I haven't had Gary step onto the passenger side step, as when he does, the truck tends to lean that direction~ not that he's a whale, he's about 230lbs. But overall, I'm very pleased and really the cost wasn't too bad for the set, and we all know that our own labor is dirt cheap! ![]() dne' ![]()

Re: My '59 Apache
I really dig the TR6. Last week, a friend gave me a Datsun 260Z. If I can get it running, I am going to paint it the same green color as your car.

Re: My '59 Apache
Here the 260, not much to look at, but I will see what I can do with it. The intake manifold is removed, and there is a stud broken off in the aluminum head. Does your Triumph have SU carburetors?

Re: My '59 Apache
Thanks for posting that pic! That's a nice looking project with great potential. Yes, I my TR has the SU carbs. I sent mine to a fella on the www.6-pack.org site that knows these carburetors and let him overhaul them.
Now how are you going to get that broken bolt out? dne'

Re: My '59 Apache
Just finished reading this thread. You are an inspiration.
I like you Lil Mule and will be looking for a used Hoyer. I am a retired RN so I know of what you speak. Nack and lower back are pooched. I bought a 47 Chev 2 ton. I does run. We got it home on a trailer couple weeks ago and my wife was really pleased with it. I have been reading here and downloading info. I may donate my 89 Gm 1/2 ton daily drive into the 47. The PO had done much work to engine and tranny and it has beat a few tricked out cars off the green light. But the snow has arrived and I will ammass parts and info till spring. |

Re: My '59 Apache
pimping out the tracker?
the shop has an electric paint shaker that looks to be from the 60s or 70s set the timer and walk away, if you hear it change tone run back before paint is all over the wall and floor which happens occasionally ![]()

Re: My '59 Apache
Pimping? silly~ I think the checkered stripes look really "benign". I think of pimping would have the tiny tires and fuzzy stuff on the seats.
Now when it comes to paint shaking, I don't walk away from it while it's doing its thing. In fact, after about 3 or 4 minutes, I stop it and check it to make sure the screw is not backing off. I can't imagine paint, especially car paints and primers going all over the place! lol dne'

Craftec bed cover installed
Gary allowed me to install my Christmas present! He wanted me to wait until after Christmas, but he saw how bored I've been. It wasn't too bad, the aluminum frame was kind of testy to put together. I installed it by myself and it wasn't bad. It appears flat in the picture, but it has a 2" radius? for water run off. I mainly wanted it to keep leaves out and lessen the amount of work to keep the bed area nice. I'm pleased!
