Looking good! I like the stake pocket box removal idea. Always something cool on this thread.

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

Did removing the stake pockets weaken the corners any that you could tell?

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

Sure did , what I did was weld the corner where they meet. Then I grinded the welds to a smooth transition, finished with metal glaze.

I thought about reinforcing the corners with a second layer of metal inside after removing the stake pockets.

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

LS1/LS6, I still think it is a great undertaking and will be nice when it is done. The LS series spin up real nice, just traded my 2000 Trans Am WS6 for my 71 GMC, really liked the LS, good for you. Can't wait to see it finished.

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

thanks everyone, for the positive feedback. As for my eye its perfectly fine but i did get a scar from the cut but i dont mind it. Proof that this undertaking took blood sweat and tears. Its a good conversation starter everyone always asks what happened.

It is rage gold. Premium quality filler and super easy to work with, avoid using cheap body filler its hard to mix and sand

Re: LS1 into a 73 cheyenne

having the front clip off i started work on the steering column hole out the fire wall. I doubled up for strength and had to build the bottom left corner to meet with the new flat surface
