Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Finished up replacing all my head bolts with new Fel-Pro bolts with sealant already applied. Now I have to redo the valve lash, since I had to loosen the rockers to get the socket in between them. Not too much work left to have an engine ready to be dropped in. Now I have to get my firewall and frame cleaned up and repainted.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Pulled the 62 outside and cut the windshield out, started to strip the cab down... scraped what seemed like 5 lbs. of old Super Yellow of the ps door opening weather stripping.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
My son-in-law dropped off first of four homemade WWW's.
I leveled the chassis with the 283 on the side mounts and standard bell housing mounts - then checked the motor for level across the exhaust manifold and it was very close to being level as well. Blocked up the engine to keep the same position. Cut the bell housing cross member out and cleaned up the frame. Cleaned the FILTHY TH350C that I put in the 62 tonight. Replaced input and output shaft seals before I installed it. Worked on my filler tube since it was dinged up at some point. Leveled engine and tranny and sat the tail-shaft on a jack stand. Pulled some string from yoke to yoke... Stared at it for 20 minutes since it seems so high in the frame (to me anyway). rg |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I got my 1966 parts truck 250ci started (1st time since I purchased it 4/4/13) and . . . I checked the compression! It's all good, so it will be going onto my 65 frame sometime within the next 2 weeks!
This is my makeshift gas can on the roof fuel pump!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
WOW! Racecougar... Booo-yahh!! That metal work looks great!!! Way to get at it!
Stopped over at my buddy Keith's Friday and he had some light fixtures laying there in his garage, so I asked him if he was putting up some more lights, and he said "Nope you are." I think he was tired of working in the dark at my place. My brother Johnny came up Friday night and helped me out, so I got some lights up in the garage. Saturday wired a couple more regular outlets, and one 220 outlet for my stick welder. Then started parting out the 63 doors I had bought for the vent-window assemblies - got one stripped. Try to get the other done tonight... rg |

Rain? In Oregon? That's strange.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Stripped the other 63 door for parts, then finished taking my fleetside bed sides apart.
Cleaned out the garage & with the back half of the 62's frame showing I now need to build a cab dolly to go totally frame off. rg |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Put a dent in the bank account. Scored complete used side trim for my 65 C10 long fleet, and ordered a new front bed panel, wheel tubs, and stainless bed strips and bolts. Almost time to start a project thread!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Got the carb swap done to a Holly 4412, replaced the distributor, voltage regulator. Need to get a bigger air cleaner and replace valve cover gaskets. This weekends project so I can use it without fear of fire due to valve covers leaking oil on the exhaust manifold.

Finally got my trailing arms back from powdercoat. Got them in with only one extra trip to the hardware store!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
My buddy blasted the stock 78 HD spindles I had left over from the 62's front end conversion; then I primed and painted them to put into inventory in case I need to adjust ride heighth at some point.
Changed the starter in my 90 K2500 because it was toast. Cut all the old brake lines and bits of wire from the back half of the 62 - pondering the next move... rg |
