Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I'm always looking for a reason to drive my 72! There are 6 bikes in our group going to the HD party. The pros to driving the 72 is it's always nice to have a tow vehicle plus everyone could put their gear in my trailer and everywhere I go I have a place to eat and sleep! The con's are I wont be riding my bike with everyone else and the high cost of fuel! We found a FREE place to stay so we are riding! It's only 350 miles one way to Milwakee so the fuel cost would only be $450 ish. But with a free place to crash its going to be a bike only weekend!

In preparation of coverting over the 03' chassis to my 71, we pulled the front clip & rear bed, and are 2/3rds the way done on removing the cab.......unplugging the wiring harness is a (5 letter word!!)

Mounted a new set of wheels. MB Oldschool 18x8 gunmetal and Nitto 420S tires

Before:

After:

Also fixed a leaky fuel line issue and took care of my stiff brake pedal (long thread about it a while back). Turns out the new (non rebuilt) master was built incorrectly. New one in (warranty) and its stopping great!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Very nice LS install above

I installed drop spindles and rear drop blocks today.

I drove it down the street and back. I think I will install a new carrier bearing tomorrow. That sucker is making some noise.

My dad and i watched a window installation video (i have a truck with stainless trim), looked pretty "easy". Then i read a lot of experiences on this board. Decided it was anything but "easy". We took it to an autoglass shop and it took them 3 tries to get it in! Best choice we made in a long time!

In The Ten Ring (Post #7738):

Nice truck. My taste veers away from the Lincoln (or whatever) hood ornament.
But that's one of the great things about these trucks...You get to do whatever you want.

Okay, would it be idiotic to suggest that you have to make sure you're adjusted all
the way "in" before the drums will slide over the shoes?

It took the glass guy that did mine about ten hours total and two windshields, he eventually got it in though. And the crazy thing is he's being it for about 30 years

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I'm not a big fan of stick on stuff. But I found these letters in my parts stash while I was looking for something else.

I'm headed to the striper's tomorrow. He'll probably wring my neck for sticking these on. Hell, this ain't no show truck.
And, I already had 'em. So, I stuck 'em on.

I have stainless trim on my windshield seal too. It took me almost a month and three glass guys before the windshield finally went in. It was the most frustrating part of my entire build.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Made preparations to complete the driver's side drum rebuild....I just now saved all the pics from that super awesome online tutorial someone linked on here for me. I don't have wi fi at my house and I'm nearly out of ink! Now I can just carry my laptop out to the garage for the work.

I also bought some dremel attachments for the upcoming front cab tac-welded bolt grinding...

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

I put new plug wires and valve cover gaskets on. I replaced my temp sender and got my temp gauge to work, also found out my windshield leaks ( first time I've had truck in the rain ).

Broke out my new Harbor Freight drill na d wire wheels and began zizzing the rust off the very bottom part of it ~ this looks very do - able , it'll just take some time .

I also may have located a running & driving 292 TH350 equipped donor for my '69 C/10 , I go to look at and maybe buy it to - morrow afternoon .
