Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
New radiator and clutch fan yesterday, condenser and drier installed today. My rad support was a bit rusty so it got a coat of POR15 ...my kids can replace it in 40 years

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Really pushed myself to meet my "self imposed deadline" of starting it up this weekend. Wasn't able to achieve that. But it's ok. There's always tomorrow. All wires are in truck and routed to general area of connection. Was able to eliminate a few from the front light and engine harnesses. I even tried my hand at wrapping. About an hour later and a full roll of electrical tape...it looks pretty Good. I defenatly need to brush up on my crimping and soldering, patience was tested. But I'm happy with the over all results. Any day now....

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Chased down some wiring gremlins. Replaced the temp sender and gauge. Grounded the bottom lug of the gauge like some have said they needed to get it to work. Not getting continuity so getting frustrated with not having a temp gauge. Printed Circuit looks good. Guess I need to figure out how to check the wiring to chase down the problem. If anyone has had this problem before I Considering going with an aftermarket temp gauge and hiding it somewhere. Hate to do that tho. Fixed washer pump and switch blowing fuses. Rewired the stereo, changed the headlight switch and sprayed some touch up on my undercoating. A productive day other than the temp unit and when I buttoned everything up and took it out for a test drive I shredded my B&M shift cable. I ordered a new one and will wait patiently for the brown truck.

I did nothing but drive it 100 miles or so and put $380 on the credit card. Fleet Farm however put new Cooper Discoverer H/T LT245/75R16's on it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I dreamed about it in the new Paint Jail......
I'll go by and give her a look next week . You alls are making great progress and have some fantastic rigs ! . My new Paint Guy seems unable to conceive that I want a restoration then I plan to put it right back to it's regular hard work...... All the other old trucks he's done , do the show circuit and he has photos of them with proud owners holding their trophies . It's still cheaper than buying a new base model work truck and I don't like the new ones anyways .

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Worked on my tai light turn signal with no luck. Aimed my headlights which seemed to help a little. Also painted my tailgate lettering. Still needs a little work but overall pleased.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Last night I took the passenger door apart on my '71 GMC and lubricated the window actuator and lock. I'd done the driver's side awhile back. I rarely roll the windows down but it's sure nice when they work like they're supposed to.
I zeroed the lifters again today 'cause they were clackin' AGAIN. I've done them both running and off but they keep getting noisy. New rockers, nuts, push rods, screw in studs. Bottoms of the lifters aren't worn. Original engine, 487 heads, supposedly rebuilt by the PO. Runs pretty good, good oil pressure BUT NOISY OVERHEAD, pretty DANG frustrating. Nice little truck, but it's PI$$IN' me off. I think I got them too tight today, it's running funny now.
