Yea I've seen plain trucks without trim listed but the black/white contrast of this truck and that is the only thing listed struck me as funny. I'm glad you get the humor too. I was also just telling my buddy that depending on if you're a scientist or an artist, you see black and white as either no color or all colors. White to an artist is the absence of colors but to a science guy white is all colors. Black the reverse. So if you look at it as a science guy on the inside and an artist on the outside, this truck has nothing.

Re: SPID Picture thread?

Just came across this SPID picture thread at lunch today, so here's my 68 C10's.

Anyone have a picture of the Code; 603 "Green Cloth Trim". Want to know what's available for a replacement seat cover in case mine is trashed.

Saw this 68 K2500 for sale on FB and noticed the weird SPID

Anyone ever see anything like this before? Factory correction or dealer reprint?

This is the 3rd burb Ive seen with this special order blue paint, anyone know of an agency or promotion that used that color?

Welcome to the board. Looks like your truck was built in the Oshawa, CA plant. From what is posted here (in just the last few posts no less) and the SPID pics I have saved personally, looks like Oshawa always filled in the SE# blank with an alpha numeric starting with FT. My speculation would be that it was simply a build order number (or similar).

Re: SPID Picture thread?

I thought I stumbled upon a RPO/option decoder somewhere, but can't seem to locate it.

Could those in the know shed some light on the less obvious options here?
I believe it's a 50th, 6cyl, PS, Turbo 400 (or 350?). What about "HD rear Spring" and "Auxilary Spring Equip"?
(I just purchased the truck, ...being picked up shortly)

Thanks,

Kevin

Since I had Jeff remake a SPID for me, I'm adding a pic here for clarity...

It is a 50th, codes for the 551 Gold and 526 Ivory Special Two-Tone paint (roof and rockers). Plus the 625 trim.

Most of the options are clearly described.
292 straight 6cyl with optional oil bath air cleaner and a TH400, 3 speed automatic. Should have open 3.73 gears since an optional ratio/posi isn't listed.

G50 HD rear coil springs upgrade
G60 Aux were quarter leaf helper springs behind the axle.

Sounds like a nice truck so post a picture when you can.

Tim,
Thanks for the response. I'll definitely post some pics once it's home.

I have heard of those (G60) helper springs, but had no idea they were available with coils (thought just leafs). I'm new with these trucks, so learning a lot.
Thanks again,

Kevin

Was going to say I never saw an "oil bath" filter, but did some digging, and of course it's been a topic in the past ; )

Re: SPID Picture thread?

Here is a typical cutaway and service procedure for the oil bath cleaner. The factory chassis service manual is a great thing to have and learn from. Buy one or at least download a pdf until you find a paper copy.

Re: SPID Picture thread?

What is the difference between 3 digit option and 6 digit option SPID's?

Were they changed to 6 digits after specific year?

Re: SPID Picture thread?

The number of digits varied by assembly plant.

The actual RPO code is always the three characters in the middle.

The additional characters (when used) provided more info about the RPO code, like clutch type, etc. When those fell into disuse they were often replaced with just dummy characters to fill the spaces, which is obvious when all of the RPO codes have the same leading and ending characters.

There was no specific breakpoint for changing over to the pure three digit code, and it varied by plant and model year even through the squarebody era.

Re: SPID Picture thread?

1970 C-10...Question on making a new SPID tag. Since mine has been gone along time and my truck had very few options, Should I make it like it was from the factory? Or, Make it like new with all the new stuff added to it?

Factory.... Red Paint..Blue interior....No radio W/delete plate....no cig light w/hole plug...no AC, PS, PB, 3OT,....307 cid...373 rear diff....and gauge package.

NEW.....Red paint....Black interior...Radio...Cig. lighter....AC, PS, power Disc Brakes....Automatic trans W/OD...35o cid....Shoulder belts.....Sliding back glass....Tinted glass.....342 posi rear diff....and more...
