Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
All I have is .12 left in my pocket ! The check for my left kidney is supposed to come in next week.
(kidding) Now, I'm REALLY going to be stuck doing a bathroom remodel. I told my wife if she'd let me get these I'd finish the downstairs bathroom to match the one upstairs I just finished. she asked me the other day, "Are we going to haul the wood for the new deck home in your truck? " Ummm .. NO.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Eric, they're not here yet ..
I havent forgotten about the pictures, they're on my other laptop I just need to login and post them. I went for a long run last night and I didn't get home till late. Question, the front bumper guards. On or Off ? Being a SG / Super whatever would it look cool to leave them? I'm kinda thinking they have been on the truck since new and I'm sure you'll be able to tell in the chrome on the bumper where they once were. Leave em ? Also, should I replace the side trim? The lighter wood trim (from what I can tell ) is an overlay. I'm thinking when the truck was new maybe they liked the lighter wood trim and just placed a sticker over the top of the darker brown / wood trim? There is darker wood colored trim underneath it. Some of the trim on this truck is questionable. Ex. Screws to hold it on, etc. should I get a new set .. before or after I paint it ??

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
I vote for new woodgrain trim and a new front bumper.
Sell the old front bumper with the bumper guards.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
I vote leave the trim and bumper for now and enjoy the truck for how cool it already is....then down the road when you want to paint it, put a new bumper and trim on...

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
I agree. The bumper and guards will stay for a while, until I decide on paint I guess. ..
Here are some pics of this past weekend. Planing and cutting the grooves for the bedwood, Northern white oak. It came out awesome. (thanks to GMC Pauls for the measurements of the width of the pieces and grooves for the strips etc.) Dad and I are pulling the bed off on Sat. I'll post more pics as I can.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
The buckets and console are in. Notice the driver's side with adjustable and lowered seat height. It sits perfect. We added just a little bit of lean to the back to make it have more of a gangsta lean ..
I have plans for a tank cover, I just don't have it yet .. We also moved the seats away from the console just a little bit. I think the factory location is a little tight on the console plus it allowed the use of two original holes. The lowered seat brackets are solid and cut from billet. They came out really cool.

More of the bedwood... We have $157 in the wood, + our time cutting it.

The seats look great!
How much did you end up lowering them? Any pics of the modified brackets, themselves?

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Thanks for all the compliments. I'm pretty stoked about getting it finished up. I just need to get door panels and upper trim and I think the interior is close to finished. Tank cover, maybe new door handles, etc.
Keith, the driver's side brackets are from an original bench seat. The seat was lowered (pretty sure) he told me .75 in the back and 1in in the front .. maybe vise versa. Dad did it, honestly I'm not sure. The billet adapters are cut from three seperate blocks at .25" height per block. His thinking being the more blocks you add, the lower the seat goes. It's pretty cool actually. I think maybe the original truck brackets were adjustable (?) Not sure .. but just a lowered seat height for me helped more than anything. Adjustability just because we wanted to try and make it work. I'll try to get some pictures. I'm going to pick up some SPAR varnish tonight and we'll work on the bedwood and some minor rust repair tomorrow. We just need to get the bedsides and tailgate ready for paint and throw it all back together. We have polished stainless strips for the wood floor, I bought from Mike Losh when he went to hidden fasteners. Should be pretty cool when it's finished. I'll post pics as we progress.
