Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Cab metal work finished, primed and ready for color. Picking paint color is somewhat stressful - and i’m not even ready to paint outside of truck yet 👀 just want to get firewall and underside done along with interior right now.

Cussed it, because I'm having issues with getting the headlights to work.

Mine tends to see some exaggerated language also.

The problem should be a simple one to fix, but darned if I can.

For several months I didn't know why I only had brights and no dims, so I replaced the dimmer switch and was about to replace the headlight switch, until a looked under the hood and found that I had unplugged the harness at the core support then completely forgot to plug back in Funny thing is that that was over a year ago, and the dimmer switch I put in failed a couple of weeks ago. Put the original one back in and it still worked just fine

17 years in the making. After many starts and stops, the Crewcab went for paint this week.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

So I received a '65 c10 Stepside from my dad as a wedding present a couple months ago. Unfortunately it has been sitting since probably 1996 so there is a LOT of work that needs to be done. There also hasnt been a lot of aftermarket stuff done to it ie.. still 4 drums, no power steering. It does have a 305 in it (originally came with a 283) and he converted it to an automatic with a TH350 Trans when he was in highschool. I am currently in school for Auto Mechanics and my instructor has let me work on the truck through the classes we have taken. Right now we have just finished our brake class and although it was tempting to convert to disks, its just not in the cards for money right now. BUT! I have replaced everything from the master cylinder, brake lines (all, even made them myself instead of buying a pre-made kit), parking brake lines, hoses, shoes, drums, hardware, and brake cylinders. Now the nice thing is being in school we have a huge discount on parts and everything only cost me 282 bucks! (That receipt doesn't include the parking brake cables). Now we are onto electrical and there isn't much to do for me in this short 3 week class as we have to get it running first. Next is Suspension and I plan on replacing/rebuilding basically everything as we go through. I already have an associates in Auto body so the body will be my summer project next year.

The wider whitewalls look good with the painted rims.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

Just put in an order for some new 3 point seat belts. It will be a nice safety upgrade to keep me from biting the dash, but hopefully I won't have to test out the effectiveness

No pictures, but just ordered the longbed to shortbed conversion kit that Brothers offers. Going to be ordering the shortbed sheet metal and everything from LMC on Monday.

Re: What did you do to your truck today part IV

I replace the mid seat windows and felts but apparently the aftermarket power window motors are too weak to move the windows. Fortunately, there was a great mod on here using ‘91 motors and a custom bracket. I think that’ll be next. Another thread helped with getting the windows installed. This place is invaluable!

...oops that was in my the Burb not PU
