Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
after talking with vintage air about making my " hot rod " air system work I think ive given up. they said I can make it work but its a pretty hefty conversion. they sell an interior kit that will have all of the parts I need. its not cheap but it will have every part and they will be new and work as they should. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and purchase that kit. will take a bit to put the cash together though. I still cant find the correct size retaining clip for my shifter. I sent an email to b&m and hope they will answer me soon. I'm hoping t finish up my interior lighting tomorrow.

Got my speaker wiring roughed in and mounted the hidden antenna. Tomorrow I can finish up the wiring connections and test the sound system.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
'51 Panel: I got a used wood steering wheel mounted on my home made column. Then I replaced my pinion yoke ("modified" by a previous owner who cut the u-joint tabs off). Also installed the pickup tube, rollover vent and gauge sender in my gas tank.
Next will route fuel lines and then should be ready to drop the body back down on the frame. Last edited by MiraclePieCo; 02-27-2018 at 04:32 AM. |

Then through parts houses I bought a condenser, a dryer, a compressor by VA, and had hoses made by my NAPA store. The point is IT COST LESS AND FIT MY APPLICATION BETTER THAN THE PACKAGE PRICE. Try pricing it out as an alternative solution. |

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
No unfortunately, another one of the mistakes I made. I bought the a/c only unit instead of both a/c and heater unit. Then I moved the truck to Colorado. Fortunately it snows a lot here and I haven't take it out this winter, therefore I don't look so bad with my lack of foresight.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Finished up welding and painting the exhaust system and got it hung, just a couple more brackets waiting for the paint to dry and will call it done. Am dumping exhaust down right in front of the rear ink ill like that better than out the side, just no room to go out the back with the C4 suspension and fuel tank.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
Operation see less gas tank and more coil over spring. Not crazy about the shiny tank hanging down so I am trying to raise it as much as I can. (1.75") had some 1 1/2" SS OD tubing laying around so I started cutting and tacking. Didn't quit get done with it but a good start anyway. Not sure either if you can notice just 1 3/4" but I will.
I guess my next question is how to rotate pictures? Mac |

That looks like an awful lot of welding on that poor tortured filler neck; seems you could get a couple of 90* rubber hoses and connect them with tubing? They make moulded hoses that have extremely sharp bends. Heck, I've even seen guys use 90 PVC elbows for gas fillers (yes, despite what you've read PVC is gasoline resistant - here's the results of an actual test: http://www.spudfiles.com/spudtech_ar...pic.php?t=7896 ) Thanks for your posts - we'll be watching! Sitting with new parts, searching for proportioning valve to master brake lines. In the kitchen. At 10pm. Oh, what an exciting life I live...

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3
I finally swapped out my races on my new rotors to fit my spindles. Put on my new dust shilds on the spindles, packed up the bearings and put the rotors on. Been needing to do this for a while.

Thanks guys, yes tig welded. I don't own a wire welder. I got the tank as high as I could, now to see how well it fills. Its nice here today so I will do that after work.👍

Nice work. If I'd welded that, it would be spouting liquid like a Freddy Krueger victim.

Ha ha ha, no leaks here. Pipefitter by trade. Don't do much welding on the job anymore, besides my eyes aren't what they used to be. Have to wear cheaters to just to strike a arc.

Finished body working both front fenders, they are ready for epoxy. One rear fender (minor) and two doors left to go.
