Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

Here's the completed windows and interior of cab is done just have to reinstall the seat belts and when truck is done putting in shoulder harness. Yes the gauges are mismatched, I will deal with that much later they all work so that's whats important to me.

New motorcycle LED tear drop tail lights will replace these old fat/ bulky round tail lights. And new mounting hardware for Iron Cross tail lights will replace the brackets shown here in above photo.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

BEFORE AND AFTER pics of bed work/primer/paint and minor work to frame. Because the new rear springs from No Limit Engineering brought my truck so far down I have to notch and weld my shock cross member. I just want that little additional clearance for peace of mind. I will post more pics when done here is what I just started on.

Thanks for the kind words Rods57. Things have slowed down due to my second operation for carpal tunnel. Now that both hands are done hope to get back to work on the truck in a couple of weeks.

it seems like Donny is taking a chance by leaving the back window in the cab and then setting the cab down on the back wall. the glass is tough but still.....

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

Howdy neighbors, I didn't give up on my truck. Still working on it, but life happens, there have been more than a few family issues & dealing with moms and her dementia full time care an other stuff. And I became one of those people I made the mistake of saying I would never be. The guy that has more than one project going on at the same time.

Someone said to me, "Hey B! u aint been on the truck forums nobody knows what's happening with your truck" I said I don't think any body really cares, lol. Coz I don't...sometimes dealing with what’s going on in your world sucks the energy right out of ya. I will post some update photos of my truck and other projects later.

Yeah I know it may sound stupid I might drop dead soon an won't nothing be done,(Man Makes Plans & God Laughs) but I was thinking man I aint getting younger I need to step it up and do something with these engines & parts, send stuff out to the machine shop and fix the suspension on the El Camino and other junk laying around coz they aint going to put them self together. Then my wife said she wanted a new front gate for the drive way.... uhhhh very $$$ expensive, so I made one.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!
-Hunter S. Thompson

There was a moment however when I did think, "hey I aint posted no pics in a long time people may have thought I fell off the face of the earth or gave up on my ryde". Then I saw this funny meme that put things in perspective.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

WOW Nice to see all the kool rides that have popped up since I've been away. No disrespect to the '47 -59 crowd but man the 67-72 C-10 folks have got some serious projects going on....Man!

As i said a couple of years ago when i last posted, I didn't give up on my truck. Still working on it, but life happens, there have been more than a few family issues & dealing with moms and her dementia full time care an other stuff. Now I have her in a nursing home and she's doing ok considering her condition. Still dealing with some tough issues with family matters that are out of my control but trying to be supportive and by God's grace and help get through that too. The projects are actually very therapeutic. When I am able to go to my garage and go to the machine shop and chase down parts all over SoCal even during the covid crisis it helps me get my head straight and not to dwell on things I can't fix and keeps me from attending my own self pity party.

So I will probably if time allows Lord willing over the next week or two or three be uploading 47-59 Chevy/GMC project photos including my own and other projects I got going. I'm a big boy don't hesitate to sound off if u see something I did that maybe I could have done better or I did not explain something well. I aint gonna lie I got my ideas from friends and other folks rides here on 67-72 and else where. I have very few original ideas

I will start off where I left off with my good friend Donnie's '57 long bed, step side big window project, now a short bed.

I think you will really like some of the rides and projects I found some of this stuff is WILD! For some of you out there maybe this will encourage you to push your skill level a few notches up. Sometimes farming out stuff we want done can knock the wind out of our sails. That's what the Snap-On truck and Harbor Freight is for ladies and gentlemen. YOU CAN DO IT !
