With mine you don't need to drill out any threaded holes on the steering box. All four of the steering box bolts go thru the frame. Also there is no inner plate to deal with. I don't feel it is necessary for a 2 wheel drive truck. I've had this same plate on my '66 Suburban since 1993 and put just over 120,000 miles on it with no issues. When I've installed these, I stitch weld the plate to the frame for a little added strength. This isn't absolutely necessary though, since there are four bolts securing it to the frame. The price for this bracket is $55.00 plus $6.30 for shipping in the USA. Included is the bracket as shown and four grade 8 bolts and lock washers. To place an order and for payment information either send me a PM here on the forum or email me at captainfab454@hotmail dot com

For an additional part to go with this adapter plate, see page 6, posts #126 and #137

These adapter plates can also be used on the K series frames that didn't come from the factory with power steering.
I wanna order the bracket but will the pitman arm for the power steering unit fit the 65 style drag link ? I have inline six for now do u know where I can get a pump bracket for it

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Hello Tom

Sorry but no I do not have a website. I do not have time to learn how to do that with working 80 hrs a week every week. This is the only steering box adapter plate that I make.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

I just put mine on that I bought a year ago. Great product, nice template and it works great.

Is there anything I can do to get a tighter right turn radius?

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

If you are talking about being able to turn sharper one way than the other, have an alignment done and tell them what you have done and ask them to center the draglink.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

If im installing 1972 pwr steering box and complete c10 front crossmember swap onto a 66c20 would i still need this bracket? Also might be installing automatic steering colum down the road if i ditch the 5 spd for auto but as of now to get the pwr steering with stock 66 3 speed tree column do i need this braket or any other things you carry or makevto complete this swap? Never swaped in pwr steering into none of my 60-66 trucks but my damaged elbow will love it lol. Thanks for any help or answers and your products look amazing and good reviews. Also do you sell a small notch for back? Was going to just use half piece of pipe and steel plate when i install the 5 lug 72c10 12 bolt rear inplace of the dana 8 lug. Thnks

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Yes you will still need an adapter plate. The '68-'86 C series and '87-'91 R series steering boxes are all basically the same and are interchangeable. Needing the plate has nothing to do with the steering box and everything to do with the frame it is to be installed on.

If you are upgrading to power brakes, you might consider one of my brake booster brackets.

No I do not make any rear frame notches. There are already many, many, many people that do.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

If you need just the '63-'66 steering box adapter plate and not the tube and flange and if you need a standard '63-'66 booster bracket in bare steel, with shipping the total is $122.35. Let me know.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

No I do not have anything specific to a '62 4x4 frame. The steering box adapter plate is the same. I just do not have a template or installation instructions specific to a 4x4 frame. I still have not had time with working 80 hrs/7days a week every week. Member Les Otte has posted the necessary dimensions in his build thread here.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Tim, I just installed the adapter plate on my 65 Burb 4x4 and it worked perfectly. I referenced Member Les Otte build link while doing mine. Very straightforward. Thanks again Captainfab!

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Hello I was wondering if this bracket or one that you make would work for my 1968 4x4. My frame does not have any dimples or a bend in the frame it is just flat. Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

I have sold many of my steering box adapter plates to customers that have installed them on their '60-'68 K series frames. I just do not have installation instructions or a template specific to the K series. However we have the very good detailed info in this build thread to help you get the steering box correctly located.
