Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks

Gotcha Martin. I just saw the emblem on the cowl was a 65 emblem.

Nice looking truck though!!

What engine do you have in it ? Do you have the 3 on the tree or auto ?

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks

The engine size is still a small mystery. It's either a 230 or 250. It has a very generic block number that covers the entire spectrum of years it was used and I'm still trying to trace down the number next to the distributor, and it has the 3 on the Tree.

It may well be a '65. I didn't see a distinct manufacture date. When I ran the numbers it just said 00/00/1964. So it may very well be a year model '65 manufactured in 1964 (which makes sense). I'm still trying to get as many detailes on it as I can.

Unless someone put a 65 emblem on it, that is if you aren't the original owner.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks

I was born in '64, so I'm not the original owner. I did happpen to stumble across a local guy at Kragen today with a very nice '66 C20/327 that he restored. He confirmed it's a year model '65, built in '64. He also said it's more likely a 230 than a 250. I'm cool with that....

Yes, the title say's 00/00/1964.

Thanks for more info with the data sheet. I'll see what numbers I can get off that. There's a plate on the drivers side kick panel with the trim data on it. I just can't see it to read it. I tried taking a couple pictures of it to blow it up but they came out blurred.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks

Yup, that's it. From what I'm learning, that package is pretty common. I'm thinking about going with a V-8/TH350 over time. I'm not in a hurry to change it out, but I think I'm going to start getting things together. I don't want a hot-rod, but a nice "driver" is what I'm after.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks

here is my 65 heap....i'm new, name is seth, live in central IL...bought this survivor on ebay from texas about 2 months ago... very solid, a little rust in the usual spots on the front fenders and a little on the doors....have a few small spots on the cab floor to repatch...front grill is tweaked in one sopt pretty good, alot of little dents and dings but nothing major....283, the tranny is messed up though, originally 3 on the tree but someone hacked a hole in the floor and put some sort of floor shifter kit in it and they basically ripped 1st out of it, its difficult to find gears, but still somewhat drivable, havent had it out on the highway yet, just neighbord streets, so we'll see......

sellers pics....

truck was originally painted red, someone put this blue paint on it, its held up pretty well.

my pics of playing with a few rattle cans of rustoleum....i put new tires with 85 blazer rallys on it today.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks

i want to eventually paint it satin black with cab over white and white front end like looks now, c notch with manual bags, disc brake conv (leave it 6 bolt), etc...plan on doing a 5.3/4L60E swap this winter....basically this is shaping up to be a winter garage project. have some door panels, wiring stuff, & dash scoped out at the junkyard, just have to find time to go back with power tools to get the stuff out (and wasp spray!!!)....picked up a decent 456 grill off craigslist for $50 from some guy a few blocks away from my place.

Yeah it says super sport in the middle of it. The truck was strange when I got it. It had a 350 with headers to 90 degree bend pipes out to the side. Needless to say it was ridiculously loud. I built a quieter exhaust for it now. A week later the lady who sold it to me called me and said she found a box of parts and in it was a Holley double pumper along with other trim pieces. I haven't had the chance to step on it much but the few times i did it threw me back in the seat. It's gonna be black for a couple months...light blue when I get to it.

Here's some pics of my '66, taken at today's Brownsville "Stand By Me" Cruise In. It's a celebration at the town of Brownsville, Oregon where the movie "Stand By me" was filmed in '86.

Hood ornaments...

And what's a celebration of "Stand By Me" without a pie eating contest. Here's my boy:
